This course has a very attentive and helpful staff. The course is very 'accommodating' and fun. Excellent practice facility.
Very nice course. Good course for players of all levels.
Great Golf Course
Love Heron Bay.. Great golf course lots of sand that challenges you. Very friendly staff.. I live in Kendall but it's worth the drive.. Give it a try you'll see what I mean..
More sand than the beach.
The course seems to have gone downhill over the last year or so.
Still very challenging but not in great condition.
Tons of bunkers
Overall good shape, a few issues on a couple of greens but they appear to be addressing them. Great staff!
Fun layout, driver friendly, flattish greens, visually intimidating
This layout is a fun track with plenty of room off the tee. The average golfer will find it visually intimidating on approaches to the green. The greens are small and not very undulating making it possible to get up & down without too much trickery. Good pace of play and friendly staff, it is a great value for the golfnow price.
Good course
The course is well maintained. A lot of holes are wide open so the wind can gust up and be a real challenge. This course has over 100 sand traps so ther are many holes with 10 traps or more, making it more challenging and fun to play. Par 4s and 5s fairways are open and long, lined with sand traps on both sides, but most greens are surrounded with bunkers, commanding precise approach to get on. Greens are relatively plain and are well maintained. On the whole a good well-maintained course and we enjoyed playing it a lot.
Greens are rolling great...
Heron Bay is a beautiful wide open course designed for the pros. One of the best courses for the money and rounds can be finished in 4 hours.
HB a true challenge
Due to unusually rainy conditions over south Florida this summer, the course was soggy. The course or GolfNow should specify if cart-path only. The layout is very challenging with many fairway bunkers throughout. Fairways and bunkers were sopping wet (plugged lies all over). When this course finally dries out, I would recommend it to everyone.
Great layout, decent shape
Enjoyed our round. As expected, the course isn't in the same kind of condition it was as a TPC course. Still a fun layout to play.
Wish it was a little cheaper...
I've played here a bunch of times. Mostly in the summer months because of the cheaper rates. The course is generally in very good condition with many large well placed bunkers. One complaint I have about my most recent visit was that on several holes there was a bunch of red ant piles. If you're a "hacker" I wouldn't recommend playing here because it will leave you very frustrated.
Best Course we played
We played 4 courses in the Ft Lauderdale area. This course was in the best shape of any with a nice layout. The staff was friendly and joked around while the other courses seemed a stiff and borderline cranky. They had a lot of recent rain and the rough was pretty tall and hard to find your ball in but otherwise good.
Great value for great golf
The course is in terrific shape and worth every dollar spent. Great value. They could go back and host the Honda again and it wouldn't miss a beat
Fun Layout - When Windy It is a Challenge
When I last played the first of September 2012 the greens were quite slow for a "championship" layout and a premium course price. The fairways, traps, and tees were very nice and well kept. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I enjoy playing Heron Bay a couple of times a year, however many other courses in the area offer a better golf value.
Great course, plays greaT
This is a great course for anyone who has played for a year or more. It really challenges you and your abilitys
This course is not in very good shape.
I would not play this course again. A TPC course should be in halfway decent shape and this was not well maintained at all. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 2 or 3. I would play Eagle Trace any day before I would play this course again.
Disappointing day
Heron Bay has been one of my favourite courses in the Ft. Lauderdale area. However I was very disappointed with my experience on my last visit. There were no carts available when we arrived and it was over an hour after our tee time that we could begin our round. As a result we could not finish our round before dark. Also disappointing that many of the greens are in poor shape.
Average course,
The course was repetitive. Felt like you were playing the same 3-4 holes over and over. Not a scenic course. Typical south Florida layout . Flat.
Sand is way too intrusive. No margin for error on teebox.
I know this was once a TPC course designed with the pros in mind, but this is simply not playable for a mid to high handicaper because of the sand. I wouldn't say this course has fairways; they are more like landing pads. Greens were fair, but their condition was less than desirable compared to the rest of the property.
