Nice course but chewed up a bit. I
The course was good and the staff was great. The tee boxes were in rough shape and the yardage books and lack of gps made play and distance difficult. For 170/ round no gps was a disappointment. Place was okay but the ground was hard and the grass was so short putting around the greens was easier than chipping.
Staff friendly
Course in good shape
Greens in good shape
Faded glory
Clearly this was a top course years ago. The layout and tee box options are still great. The greens roll well too. However, for the amenities available and overall condition, I’d say it’s about double the cost that it should be. $50 with carry would be more appropriate when compared to the competition. I won’t go back at current pricing but would in a minute for half price. Cash infusion needed for sure.
Perfect weather day to Play
Teed up at 10:30am. Played in a foursome. Total play time as 4 hrs 10 mins. Only really backed up twice for 3-4 minutes each.
Course is in above average shape. I'd say the sand traps were some of the best I have had the unfortunate pleasure to play out of.
A lot of open fairways but also a few challenging ones to even out the jetters.
Fairways and greens are as good as they can be with all the winter play traffic. The staff was excellant. Water is in play enough to make if a challenge. Not a fan of well striked tee-shots where trees came into play. I think only three holes may have that and I hit two of them . I do recommend and will come back
All greens had been treated with fertilizer. This affected the quality of the greens.
Juice wasn’t worth the squeeze
The course layout was great and that’s it. Tee boxes were horrible. Greens were pretty descent. This course just wants to jam groups through. They sent a twosome out in front of us after the turn which made no sense. This course is not worth the 100 plus bucks to play. Should be 60 to 80 bucks max based on the condition. Read some reviews from others and didn’t want to believe those negative comments and hoped that this course would not disappoint. But unfortunately those who wrote negative reviews were bang on. Not coming back anytime soon.
Sad
Course is no where near as nice as it used to be. Was once in perfect condition, not anymore. 5 hour round. Not worth the cost. Layout is great, but fairways, tees and greens are all declining. Belongs in the price range of the $60-$80 range. Have played here many times in last 20 years, not coming back anytime soon.
First Time in Florida
The choice between Emerald Hills and an another golf was not easy because this is our first stay in Florida where we intend to play golf. Good choice even for amateur golfeurs, no stress, neither insurmontable difficultés. The only regret, at the end of our course, at 3 PM, the proshop and all the amenities (restaurant, restrooms) were closed because of the inauguration
Disappointing greens conditions this time.
We have been coming from St. Louis to Fort Lauderdale to play golf in January for the last 5 years. Every year we play The Club at Emerald Hills, the course has always been in good shape, challenging, with excellent putting greens, we always enjoyed our round of golf and getting lunch in the clubhouse afterwards. Unfortunately for us this year the course decided to top dress all the greens heavily with sand, and also on hole #14 the sprinkler system was watering the green which made the hole unplayable. I understand that there is maintenance to be done on a course, but I wish we would have been informed by management of the condition of the greens so we could have possibly changed the day we were going to play. For the price of $160 that day it was a disappointment for our group.
Ken, St. Louis, MO.
Nice layout
The course has a really nice layout. Our timing wasn’t great as the greens were very sandy and slow making for a poor experience. Fairways were ok… they seem to get better on the back nine. Course has plenty of length and tee boxes for all levels.
Sandy Greens and overall poor conditions!
I play about 100 rounds a year and the course was in very poor conditions especially considering the price. They had sanded the greens without any warning or notice. The explanation was that it wasn't busy, and the greenskeeper did it last minute. Frankly if that wasn't bad enough the rest of the course was in very poor condition for January. In the past week I played Plantation Reserve and Palm Beach National for about the same price and both courses were much better conditions. I don't usually write reviews, but I was compelled seeing the drastic differences in conditions.
