Panther Lake at Orange County National

With all the tee times this place puts together on a daily basis you think they’d have the process of getting groups started figured out. It’s not that difficult when it’s your time to tee off you should already be at the tee box with clubs in hand ready to swing when it’s your time. Yet every time I come to Orange County national it’s a kerfuffle, starter is always anxious like it’s all the golfers fault when really they shouldn’t be booking tee times so close together. Just always seems to be an issue getting onto the first tee, then we you are out there better hope that slow group let’s you play thru or it’s gonna be 5 hours. Saw the cart girl 2 times in 4 hours how’s she supposed to make any money only being able to serve 2 rounds to each group. Great golf course unfortunately not worth 5 hours of my life. PACE OF PLAY! Get it together, such nice golf courses yet run like people have no idea how to run a course.

Panther is one of 2 courses at Orange County National. I am not a great golfer but i had a great time playing this course. One note - hole 7 has been changed to a par 3 due to damage from the hurricane. I assume they will put it back to a par 5 when they are able to repair the fairway.

We were blown away by everything having to do with Panther Lake Golf Course. Visually stunning wherever you look. Conditions amazing. Greens as true and fast as can be expected. Challenging but fair layout. Fun holes. Great variety of lengths to play the course. Very excellent courteous helpful staff. Incredible facility. One of the best all around golf experiences we ever had. Felt like we were playing in a different state. Had always heard that Florida courses were flat. This isn't. See you again soon!

Great Round of Golf on a very enjoyable course. The visual aspect of the course was stunning, water framing some holes in an intimidating fashion but when you look carefully it is not as threatening as first presents. Course weathered the recent (2 weeks ago) Hurricane and any damage had been cleaned away. Greens were well guarded and bunkered, testing all approach shots and the greens rolled beautifully. A good golf course, well presented and maintained, a pleasure to play.

We have played this course several times. The course is challenging also in great shape, staff are the best. If you are in the central Florida area this is a must play course.

Without a doubt the most visually stunning course I've played and I've been around. Outstanding condition all around. A beautiful day on these links.

For us, The only drawback is the length of the course. I only drive the ball 180 as does my younger wife. That leaves several of the holes too long for us. Can play them for bogeys but we'd at least like to have a chance to reach most/all holes in regulation. We played from about 5,400 yards. Wish they had a set of tees that played around 5,000 which seems to be what most courses have for Red tees. We think this course plays a bit longer due to the hilly nature.

Greens are pure and fast.

We absolutely loved this place and hope to return again soon.

In the past, I have praised OCN’s two excellent courses despite some minor problems but recently there have been some issues that have caused me to reconsider my previous five star reviews. My recent experience at Panther Lake evidenced staff and course management problems that require immediate attention. Last Thursday, I played Crooked Cat and there were no issues but yesterday was a completely different experience.. First, OCN no longer provides two courtesy bottles of water on ice even though the did last Thursday when I played Crooked Cat. The reason I know this is the cart staff so informed me when they literally repossessed the two bottles already in my cooler when I asked for some ice to keep them cold! While the water repossession issue is simply a rude staff issue, pace of play is a far more serious problem. According to my cart’s pace of play timer, our round took 5:14 due to the incredibly slow group(s) ahead of us. That is a totally unacceptable pace ANYWHERE! We never saw a ranger (player assistant?) on the front nine but did see one parked at the halfway house at the turn. When I informed him the front nine took 2:36 to play his only response was “Really?” and we never saw him again as we suffered through a 2:38 back nine. This is not the first time that I and many others have experienced this problem at both OCN courses and the shame of it is both courses are now in tremendous shape. Even so, the experience of a well maintained and excellent layout is ruined by OCN management’s failure to police pace of play. I hope OCN addresses this issue because I really would hate to avoid playing them or be afraid to recommend them to my northern friends visiting the area.

I like the course a lot, but it is too long from the forward tees for my wife - and she’s a good golfer.

Course was in great shape except that #7 is playing as a par 3 due to the water in the fairway.

Greens were in great shape, pretty fast for the amount of rain that’s been in the area lately. Only one hole was cart path only. Due to rain. Played in just over four hours, layout of the course is great.
