Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
About
The Golf Club at Terra Lago boasts two 18-hole courses, the North and the South, that provide some of the most stunning and unique views of the Coachella Valley. Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, it was home to the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002, which meant it has hosted a slew of big-name players including Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson. Terra Lago's North Course is the longer of the two at 7,060 yards, which is partly a reflection of the dramatic elevation changes that the golf course tumbles across. From the seventh tee box's lofty perch, you'll get a panoramic view from one end of the valley to the other, making it the golf course's most scenic hole. But it's most challenging is a daunting par 3 with an island green that was the featured hole during the Skins Games.

Great Pace of Play
My husband and my 2 brother-in-laws and I played on a very busy Saturday. Despite all T times we’re full, the course made sure the pace of play was great.
We did not see cart person at all so we gave a lower rating in this area.
Starter Terry was very helpful.
The green were fast and fairways in good shape.
There is some construction in the back 9 but no big deal.
We stayed afterwards and had drinks on the outside lawn under big umbrellas.
Challenging but great
Great course to challenge your game; very much target golf but no gimmick or unfair holes and many are spectacular. Greens just sanded so only negative.
Terra Lago North Course
The course was in pretty good condition, but I found if youbwind up in a waste bunker, which there are quite a few, the ground is like dried mud and the club just digs out patches of dirt. Fairways were in good shape, bunkers were in good shape, the greens however were absorbed with sand and difficult to putt because it. The ball skidded before rolling and if there were breaks and downhill , it was a lost cause. Not realistic to exoect to make many putts until the green maintenance they performed is completely done. I like the course, very beautiful and challenging, just not worth $90 right now.
Mr John Middaugh
The sanding of the greens made it very difficult for putting! Also, the yardage markers on each hole were not discernible, all the flags were red and no indication of where they were on the greens.
Bring your own water
We paid $90 each which is on the high end for this course. Unlike most Desert courses, bottled water is not furnished - there are a couple of water stations here and there - basically a drinking fountain but no cups. At the turn, tried to buy water in pro shop but found they don't take cash, so had to go back down the stairs to the golf cart to get credit card. Needed credit card because the MEDIUM size bottle of water was $4.95.
We decided to play the North course since it had not been overseeded. However, no one told us the greens would have a HEAVY coat of sand.which made reading putts difficult, plus the greens were not holding AT ALL. We understand this is the time of year when there's a lot of course maintenance going on, but we should have been told about the sand on the greens when we made the tee time.
All in all, it was disappointing. We will not be back.
Disappointing in all respects
Back in the day this was a beautiful golf course. It is no longer. It's sad to see the course is not under good management. The desk staff seemed bored and just doing their job because they had to. The cart people where totally disorganized and unable to keep up with basics such providing a cart or even acknowledging I was waiting. The carts are dirty and look like they haven't been washed for at least a year. The starter could not keep up and left me standing making me feel invisible. The restaurant that we loved is no longer there. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture.
Step it up.
The greens had just been re-seeded on the North course and it seemed like they forgot to punch the greens first. There was sand all over the greens, making it impossible to put. Play was super slow and there was no starter or marshal to keep up pace of play.
I ended up sneaking over to the South course, which was in top shape with perfect greens. I really wanted to play the more interesting North course though.
The driving range was also not open for reseeding. Really? Why re-seed a range? At least tell us first that there are limited amenities. I won't play this course again until the off season.
Golf on a budget
Course layout is actually quite good but condition of the tee boxes through to greens is extremely poor. Traps are over-filled, fairways are rough and all areas surrounding the course are either mud, under construction or nasty desert scape. Some greens are good but that’s it.
The whole place screams low budget and all about cost cutting. All kinds of emphasis on the starter yet groups are constantly waiting and no players assistants anywhere. So essentially make sure you give us your money and then you’re on your own after that.
Not bad but could be better
Some bunkers not finished, still need sand and drainage. Course could be manicured a little better. Looks like the course is getting a lot play with many courses closed for re-seeding until November. North course had a good amount of up hill holes. Some holes were very picturesque with mountains, water and formations. Not many flat greens either but course could be forgiving at times with many balls rolling into a center of a fairway or green. Not a bad course for higher handicap and senior golfers like myself.
Terra Lago North
This course was great for a mid to excellent player playing black or yellow tees. Was able to play my handy cap and birdie a few. Staff was friendly and helpful with carts and clubs. They didn't except cash, so had to use credit card.
Fun day
Great layout. Some small issues with maintenance but overall great course. Love the layout and many challenging shots. Greens were in great shape. Will play again next time in area.
The gentleman who took our money when checking in in the pro shop wasn’t too friendly.
Course was in impeccable condition. Need better sign information after playing hole #14 going to hole # 15 due to the construction. We got lost.
Find another course for the cost
Course was in decent shape for October; however, no Marshall to monitor slow play. We played behind a group of 4 (2 of which should not be playing from the tips) as they hit multiple shots on each fairway w/o picking up. Wouldn't let our 2sum play through and no one on course to monitor. No one at all in front of them for 2 or 3 holes. Pro shop staff were somewhat pleasant at best. Felt like it was a cash grab and they wanted us out as soon as possible. Range wasnt open and nothing on web site to indicate that.
Overpaid for this course by approx $25.00 per person. Cart staff were friendly, but that was it.
Won't play here again and would advise to go somewhere else instead!
Great course! Wasn't sure prior to booking because some of the comments and previous rating was good but took a chance and glad that we did. Turns out, the course was in great shape and very enjoyable. Not sure what the low rating was about. Only complaint we have is the pace of play could be a bit faster. Our round was about 5 hours.
