Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Poorly managed
Poorly managed. There was a 6-some out there. They didn’t tell you it was rough only until after they took your money. Pace of play was atrocious. The staff are great, management appears inept.
Great desert golf
I played the south course..,literally by myself out there because it was 104 degrees.
For October while most courses were
closed for reseeding.,this course was awesome for the price. I will try the north course next time.
Terra Lago South
Course was very scrubby and greens were awful to put on. Saw concessions cart once which cost $21 for 3 beers.
Disappointed with Course conditions
I have played the south course before. I was disappointment this year as the course was subpar compared to past visits. We wanted to play the north, but it was closed. The greens and Fairway were baked out. Needs some maintenance work, but will return.
Nice track
Nice course. Would play again. It should be noted this is a cash less course. Staff were professional and friendly.
First time for the South Course
Overall for this time of year with the desert heat starting to hit the course is still good shape. The greens all roll well and fairways are burnt out yet. And for $64 it is a very good deal.
Impressed.
This was a first time visit for our complete foursome. I had read a lot of reviews, and was reluctant to visit this course. However, our round proved otherwise. I love this place. The only downfall to this course would be its bunkers. They are packed. They definitely need some sand. Otherwise we had an amazing time. We played the south course. And would love to return to play the north course. There was was a slight breeze for us. I’m sure wind conditions play a huge factor on the appreciation of this course. We will definitely be back.
Good value for the money
Course was in good shape greens were fast and true good test of your skills pick the right tees for your ability and you’ll enjoy yourself
Good fun course excellent staff
Good course staff was excellent changed us to the North course as the south course was covered in sand due to a strong wind storm the day and night be
Course is in great condition
I have been playing here off & on since 2002. Haven’t been on the South in about a year. So I came out for a great price on a noon tee time and was pleasantly surprised. Tees, fairways and greens in good shape. Can’t understand the negative reviews I see. Waste areas a bit wild with weeds in places. But that’s why you avoid these areas. Bunkers freshly raked by grounds crew, and playable. (The wind can blow here, so sand gets blown away, not pristine, you can deal with it). Tees on #8 are way up. Looks like the back tee boxes have been let go due to homes being built to the right, in the line of fire for slicers. So par 5 plays short. Not quite the pristine course from the early 2000s Skins Game era, but best in a few years. I was treated well by everyone I encountered, cart barn, pro shop & starter.
Disappointing for sure.
Pin flags are all the same color. There is no way to tell where they are on the greens. No pin sheet, no markers anywhere. We asked one of the staff and were told ya thats right. There is no way to tell. He said just aim for the center of the green. Seems like they don t want put any money into the courses. Both north and south are the same . The bunkers look like the the surronding area, gravel pits. Signage for where the next hole is poor. Plan on driving around for awhile. Probably why most reviews say its always backed up 2 or 3 groups. Its a bit of drive from town. Not worth the gas money.
