Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Big changes at Terra Lago
Hadn’t played the course in 4yrs due to pace of play. Decided to give it another try because we could use a coupon on Golf Now to bring the rate to $57.50 for a round starting at noon. Good news we started on time. Pace of play was great even with having to wait on each hole on the front Nine of the south course. Sadly the fairway conditions were only fair, spotty grass . The desert conditions were terrible - looked like dirt - the greens were only slightly better. Lost my ball in a crevasse on one of the edges of a green. The bunkers are like cement .
Inside the clubhouse the dining room has been converted to a banquet room, so sad as this was a great restaurant . the pro shop is half its size and the other half is now a coffee shop.
Water fountains on the course were closed .
I won’t return no matter what the price tom9lay.
Greens were fast and in great shape. Course was very enjoyable from the golf tees.
Staff was rude
The north course was great.
The staff were rude and very disrespectful of the golfers
Zero refreshments and I played 2 rounds and only saw the cart person 1 time and it was at the 18th hole.
I would have recommended this course because the north course is nice but I won’t now because of the staff.
Dump
The place has gone so downhill in the last few years the owners have let it go to the point I would never play again and the price is ridiculous for such a terrible course!!
Concrete bunkers bare fairways
Take it off the list.
DON'T BOTHER
Having not played this course for a few years, we opted to play it, to see if was worth the cost, which is lower rate than the North Course.
The Greens were very good, and the short rough around them, and the fairways about average, but the sand pits were 80% hard dirt, and the fringe inside and around them, filled with weeds and grasses that prevented swinging in them.
When we tried to take our cart after the Front, back to the Club House to buy some Beer (the Snack Bar was NOT open) at the Turn.......they had the carts programmed to NOT allow you to do that. VERY Disappointing.
We won't be playing it again.
Interesting layout
Fairways just OK. Greens good. Not a surplus of rakes in sand traps. Some traps not looked after. Only saw cart lady once with a limited supply.
Underrated
I actually played the North Course, which is a very difficult, but excellent design. I've played hundreds of courses and this one is seriously underrated and undersloped. From the Black tees, I agree with the 74.1 rating, but the slope should be 141, at least. From the Gold tees, the 71.5 rating is ridiculous with the green complexes as difficult as they are. The rating from these tees should be at least 72.5 and the slope should be 134 minimum. The course difficulty is the reason the pace of play is slow, Even single-digit handicappers have their hands full with this design. As a full-time local resident, I consider the North course as good as most in the valley; the South is a different story, however, both in terms of design and condition.
Turf conditions terrible. Bunkers not Maintained, barely a rake to be found.

Staff seemed disinterested, course was in less than average shape. Doesn’t meet standards for destination golf.
Why so neglected.
This course could be so much better. Layout and setting keeps people coming but so little pride in the course condition is a shame. Almost no sand trap maintenance. Fairways are sparse and fringe ares weedy and just a mess really. Water leaks neglected. No food service and a waste of facility and setting. Please just sell it to someone who cares…Brian
Disapointed
I played the course several times in the past and liked it.
The course is in terrible condition now. Very spotting grass, around greens & fairways. No rakes in any traps. Disapointing
Declining
The south course has declined since I last played it, there is only a bathroom at the turn and the 10th hole is a distance from the clubhouse making a pit stop there pretty much out of the question. And through 18 holes we never saw a single bev cart were only able to get water at two stations along the course. Overall the lack of services and state of the course I would not return anytime soon
Mediocre condition but reasonable price compared to other places in the Valley
The greens are in very good condition, tee boxes are pretty good, fairways fairly poor and very rough around the edges. The North course is much nicer.
Pretty sad condition
Having played the North course a few years ago, I was hopeful that the South course would be better than some of the negative reviews, but alas I an unable to provide a passing mark on this course. Essentially the tee boxes and greens are in good shape but everything in between is in very poor condition, scrub grass fairways and sadness bunkers . A massive investment to bring this course up to snuff is required. Pace of play at 5 hours everyone in carts is poor and a tee off after 12.45 is unlikely to finish before darkness descends. A (modest) concession on course by the 10th tee box would save considerable time as many golfers head back to the clubhouse for "supplies" leading to unnecessary delays.
