Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Winter grass not grown in yet
The fairways were very bare as it seems the overseeding for the winter has not taken yet.
Terrible Course Condition
the courses are usually in good condition but this time was absolutely horrible. i might not go back. not worth the money.
Really went downhill
Poor directions to the restaurant only to find out there's NO restaurant.
No directions for the Practice range. Paid the $5 for practice balls but never found out where to get the balls. Balls not at the practice range any longer.
Keep the $5 and buy some grass seed.
Good course in poor shape.
This is a very good course in poor playing condition. Fairways are mainly bare of grass, greens are generally decent, very fast, but quite a few have weeds growing, and bare spots (over dressing?).
Also there was no beverage/food cart or service at the turn so bring a sandwich and lots to drink!
All FAIRWAYS, BUNKERS WERE IN VERY POOR CONDITION! BASICALLY GROUND UNDER REPAIR IN MANY PLACES. OFF DIRT IN MIDDLE OF FAIRWAYS ON THIS SOUTH COURSE. AT CHECK IN I ASKED HOW CONDITIONS WERE ON BOTH COURSES & WAS TOLD EXCELLENT. TELL THE TRUTH! I DON'T LIKE TO BE LIED TO! SPOKE WITH AN EMPLOYEE WHO SAID WE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED NO. COURSE. HE AGREED SOUTH IS IN POOR CONDITION. I ADVISED PRO SHOP ATTENDANT WHO HAD JUST COME ON AFTERNOON SHIFT. HE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE INTERESTED...I ASKED FOR GM-NO ONE IN CHG UNTIL TOMORROW AM! SOUTH USED TO BE A TOP NOTCH TRACK!
Happy new year
As previously stated in other reviews the fairways had pretty tight lies and could use a little more care and watering similar to the second and third cuts. Greens were surprisingly fast and not very many divots. Which was very nice and unexpected. Nothing on the course was open as far as water or cart Assistance. But overall great value for the money for this time of year high season in the desert. Would recommend playing the south as I did today but just expect windy conditions and some ongoing work needed in the fairways.
Everything pared down during peak?
Course had a very cool layout and was really fun to play. Not too hard for beginners, although there are a lot of elevated teeboxes. Expect sand if you miss the fairway. Bunkers are really punishing. The starter was really nice.
That being said, there were *zero* amenities operating. No cart girl, no bar, no grill, no snack shack. The pace of play was abyssal. Took us 2.5 hours to play 9. They didn't pair any doubles groups into foursomes, so there were two separate groups per tee time in some cases. Back nine took 2 hours only because some groups quit. The course did not overseed during the typical November stretch, so the conditions were lacking. Brownish fairways, bare lies, bad fringes, bumpy greens. It's a beautiful course with plenty of good grass, but the course looked worn out.
11:30 is probably the latest you can go out and play a full round, as the carts are due in at 4:15. Arrive early, as the pro shop attendant told us that 30 minutes was not enough time to hit range balls. We did anyway and made our tee time with no problems.
I enjoyed playing here but the amenities need to reopen before I would consider playing again.
Nice, but challenging
Nice course, good conditions, and interesting layout, but more challenging than I anticipated.
Great course, over worked ataff
Played here numerous times. Usually the staff is right on but this round they were slow to prepare the bags, the cart was not stocked with ice, sand and did jig get cleaned. I had to load my own clubs which is not a big deal, and on the 2nd hole realized both sand containers were empty. No cart service. I’ll be back as the course is great and am hopeful the staffing and attention deficit was a momentary lapse
Good track
South course similar to the better rated north course.
Excellent value!!!
Overseed
South course rough was overseeded nicely but they could have put more on the fairways. Tight lies everywhere in the fairways, too tight. Traps are in rough shape, lots of grass in traps, looks like they are trying to grow in some of the traps edges.
