Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Ok but layout does not flow well
Too many places where it is a long way from one hole to the next. The greens were not consistent and not cut short enough.
The North Course is in much better shape and has a much better flow from one hole to the next. The South course feels much mir broken up and may be due to physical landscape limitations
If you have a choice play the North Course
Friendly Round
Call me a purist but for 75.00 I would expect the course to be in better condition. Greens were tall and sand bunkers muddy.
course amenities
No refreshments or food available either on course or at clubhouse
A little rough
The course had just come from overseading. Especially the back nine , pretty rough. Greens real slow. Good course when in better shape. The starter was great.
Pace brutal
Lots of people fishing for balls and looking OB for balls.
4Hr30min ++.
No Marshall’s.
Course ok but needs improving
Waste bunkers and non existent sand in traps need work. Had a ride along and had to pay “spectator fee” even though there was no cart available. Proshop staff are most unfriendly group we have met in the 5 courses we have played this past week.
Played North course and in much better shape .
Course has done a lot of cleanup of brush on both courses which helps the golf experience
Overseed
As a hole I think this course has a good layout and challenging hole. Some good risk reward shots and character. Coming in after overseeding I wasn’t expecting perfection but regardless of overseed there was areas you could tell they just didn’t touch. There are a lot of well place challenging bunkers on the course, sadly there was no sand in them. As a whole for a value warm up round go for it otherwise I would stick to the north course
Could be a 4 star+ but not well maintained
It’s October so typically most courses in and around Palm Springs/Desert are not in their top form, but this one (and especially the south course) is in poor shape, especially the greens. The greens are patchy and have multiple types of grass, sand and need rolling and care bad! They seem to be really milking COVID as a reason to not maintain traps at all, with no rakes and no ball washers either, after almost all other area courses have them back in play. With all the options, I will not be back this season and therefore can’t recommend it either. It is a shame because layout and scenery could really make this an enjoyable experience.
Terra lago South Comments
Overall we enjoyed the course with the exception that on the South Course there was no cart option to purchase water, etc. This was a challenge as we were also told at the beginning of the round that no off site purchases were allowed on the course. Even at the commencement of the front nine we were not able to purchase beverages at the club house as on the South course you do not pass by the water refreshment station. Disappointing.
Great golf at a great price
We had a fun day golfing. It was a bit disorganized at check in and getting settled in our cart, but after that it was wonderful.
Desert Golf Experience
This was our first time playing this course, we were blessed to play with a couple that plays this course who gave us information on the layout which was very valuable. I’ve never played a course that looked so rugged out of bounds, we saw a number of roadrunners throughout the course. It was a great experience playing in the desert, it had a number of water hazard holes, very large bunkers all over the course, we had a blast.
Fun and somewhat challenging
Course was in good shape for just being opened after reseeding. Greens are nice and full.
