Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Terra Lago South
First I have to say, it was a very windy day. The course definately needs a lot of repair. Many spots where lakes have overflowed from the rains and damaged the course. Also many spots where the hillsides have eroded onto the course. It appears that fairway grass has not taken from a reseeding. Bunkers need major repair. Greens were fine-best part of the course.
Wish we played the North course instead...
The South course was dry, bunkers had weeds and grass growing in it, looked like they just stopped watering and called it a Linx style course.
It was like golfing on a trap at the Grand Canyons
I can’t even begin to explain how terrible this course was, I can’t. Golf club was stolen as well, the people behind us had a golf cart that didn’t belong to the course and seem like they came from the streets. They were dishonest about not seeing my club when that was the hole I left it behind 100 percent guaranteed. I watched the guy run to hide it in the golf cart. I’m very disappointed! I don’t have any pictures because their was no beauty to see.
Need Driving Skills For Better Score
The course was not so well maintained but it is a great deal to enjoy playing challenging courses like this. There are a few groups who let us (two some) play through, but one group wouldn't give up their slowest play even there are at least a few empty holes. I hope all golfers should be finish etiquette school before coming to courses.
South course
Between maintenance, ground under repair, bunkers, on the south course was frustrating. The North Course is night and day to the south course and worth the money. With the pandemic I’m sure it was harder for them to maintain both courses but I was disappointed with the south course.
Need skills and distance
The course is designed for low handicappers and there are many holes that need them. However there are a few front tees for wives and elderly golfers.
Going downhill
Played north course 2 days before.... not as good as shape as last year but not bad. South side was in bad shape though just like I had heard. Won't be going back. Fairways were terrible and greens were not consistent. Course is challenging which thought was ok if it was in good shape but my wife (13 hdcp) hated it. She will never go back... I will have to hear it has improved. Bottom two round of our stay (12 rounds).
Nice now in February
The course conditions are okay now, but how are going to do in summer time?
Needs maintenance
I played the South course and was not impressed by the fairways, greens, and bunkers. Though still a challenging course, a great day to golf and meet new friends, I couldn’t complain. However I’d recommend the North course as there are too many better courses around the area for the cost.
All current reviews are true. Poor condition
This course was in the worst condition compared to other courses in the area we played. Bunkers hard as concrete not playable. Most Fairways not as green as they could be but greens were good. Super smelly course.
North course in much better condition but more expensive.
too beat up for me
Beautiful course...probably in Summer. Some narrow and some open fairways. A lot of bunkers. Challenging undulating greens. Assuming they let this course go (min. maint.) during winter. months.
-all bunkers depleted of sand
- the fairways were not over-seeded. you couldn't buy a divot!
Spend the extra $30 to play a course that over seeds...
Read the reviews
Year after year they are working on the SOUTH course and the course is in horrible condition. Weeds and plants growing in the un manicured bunkers, Fairways are rock hard, weeds and fungus on the greens. No signage anywhere, no marshals, no beverage cart person until the 18th hole. I sound like i am complaining, this is the condition of any course i have ever played. For $90.00 go anywhere and its better.
Great greens dry fairways!
Grass was dry throughout but the greens were great and the course is fun
Definitely worth the cost!!
Unplayable!
After playing the North course not too long ago I decided to give the South a shot, regardless of some bad reviews I had read. I wish I hadn't. There is literally nothing good about this course right now. It is already a challenging course and now to add on the fact bunkers have compacted dirt, fairways are yellow, and greens are below average makes this course unenjoyable. Not going back here again no matter what the price!
