My mother, DeAnn, loves to play this course Photo submitted by Jim7343028 on 02/06/2015
Making incredible progress
I had given up on this course by spring of 2022. Drove by last week and noticed how much better it looked. Played 9 today and it is on its way to being a great little course. Still needs some love but there’s green fairways and lush greens ( with some issues) A great course to work on your game.
Also new golf carts! Keep it up!
Fun golf course
It seems playable for all ages. The only way you don’t have fun on this course is if you rush yourself and hit bad shots because of it. The end.
Soggy Greens
Greens were super soggy, buried 7 balls in green on approach shots. Like a sponge when you walk on greens, water squirting out from under your shoes. Real bad fungus on a couple of greens
Labor Day weekend
I had an enjoyable time golfing with my son on a very hot day at California Oaks. The staff supplied us with plenty of ice for or drinks on this day. The course was challenging on this hot day but we had a good time.
This course is awful
We played today and it was awful, the fairway are trashed, the greens look like the moon with all the holes in it, no Marshall's took 6 hours for a round, grill has been closed since last November due to the balcony caving in. This is hands down the worst course I have ever played its absolutely ridiculous the condition.
The worst
Made reservations august 12th for 4:30pm, went to the course to check in and they had no idea what I was talking about or had me in there system that I had a tee time. The lady in the golf shop was extremely rude and very judge mental. Told me they have no openings for me and that there was was no availability due to a 65+ year old tournament . No accommodations or I’m sorry we don’t have your reservation in our system. Never going back here and will make sure all of my golfer friends know that this golf course is horrible, they only care for the elderly.
Nice local course
I've enjoyed playing with my son on this course. Awesome summer rates. Hot but still fun. The course is in great shape considering the heat.
Decent, great for the money
Fun little course to get out on. Fairly narrow, but enjoyable for beginners. Great value day of golf!
Very Average Course
Overall the course was average. Challenging with narrow fairways and good course layout. The greens were very soft, spongey and slow. The fairways were in ok condition and the rough was very very thick. The course surroundings were not taken care of very well, so the views were not that pleasing but that didn’t effect the actual play. Houses are very close to the fairways which adds a little pressure but it was a nice challenge. The course was not busy so pace was perfect, no waiting and no pressure from behind.
I usually don’t have a problem with green fees but I do think that $50 was a little steep for this particular course. I’ve played courses with similar conditions and they are usually around $30-$40.
Overall I would play here again but it wouldn’t be at the top of my list.
Golf can be a challenge
I love the attitude of my grandson, just starting golf, 10 years old, but had the greatest time of his life. Course has a ton of trouble if you slice and several obstacles to hit over, (water and barrancas). These things don't brother a 10 year. The greens are in great shape.
Hot and windy
California Oaks is a short, par 70 and 4800 yard, relatively flat course. Greens were mostly in good shape, fairways and tee boxes less so. We started at 2pm, 97 degrees, sunny and windy. This course is good for beginners and would be walkable in cooler weather.
Love it
This course takes a bit of knowledge and practice but is always a great course to play.
Practice
Great place to practice a variety of shots for cheap price. Greens are far too slow.
Always a great time at cal oaks
Course could definetly use work, and lots of it.. there’s no denying that.. but sometimes it’s about the other factors like your crew . And the overall experience leaving the rough conditions as they play.. there are birdies and eagles to be made out here.. I understand people’s gripes to an extent.. but go shoot par, then I feel like you might have a tiny bit of room to talk crap. Instead of on a review board online. Staff is always friendly and helpful to everyone. Thanks Scott, and crew ! It’s always a pleasure !
