Always good....but not yesterday
Been playing the course pretty regularly, and always enjoyable......yesterday, we found, when we arrived, that the greens were
Being ariated.....and the front 9 was closed......so had to play the back 9 twice......it would have been nice to know that before we committed to the time........I think golf now.com needs to tell customers those things.....
If you did and I missed it, shame on me.......
Overpriced Executive Course
This course is overpriced for what it is. They have made a couple of their par 3's longer to make them par 4's that don't make sense. Staff in the pro shop are rude and clueless. It's not a bad layout, but should never be priced more than $25. Plus the restaurant/bar is only open a couple hours a day.
Nice course but...
I had played this course a year or so ago and back then I remember saying I never wanted to play here again. I had forgotten the past experience and selected this course once more. First let me say that the course itself is very nice although I think they believe it's much nicer than it is. I get the impression that the management really doesn't want non members playing on their course. The only complaint I have about the course is that it was overly watered down considering we are in a severe drought. My ball actually plugged several times on the fairway also the roughs were a bit overgrown. But really my main complaint is the management. The staff was very unfriendly. And although we played on a holiday they closed the restaurant before we even made the turn. I guess it would have been nice if they wanted to close early they could have at least had someone drive around the course asking if they wanted any food or drinks. Which we most certainly did.! Again if you can get past being treated like a second rate citizen and just play the course it's not bad. But if you want an enjoyable experience at all levels. Avoid this course
Great course
The greens were so soft and so lush and the course was in excellent condition.
Good game value for money
Great course for those who wants good pace as not so crowded. Good value for money!!
Short but Devilish
Cal Oaks is a pretty short course for a par 70 but there's great reward for accuracy and heavy penalties for wayward shots.Greens are excellent though very slow. I thoroughly enjoy playing there and will do so again especially since the green fees are so reasonable.
Good day with a friend
My buddy & I had a great afternoon. Good value for the price. Some greens had very tall grass and made a tough time, but overall good condition.
Great for Beginners and Short Shot Hitters
When visiting this course for the first time yesterday, we were told the rough cutter is broken so the rough is very high. Boy, they weren't kidding. Had to play a true precision game. If you're ball is not in the fairway, it's gonna take you a couple of minutes to find, if you can find it at all. Greens were ok, but each one was different. Meaning some were soaking wet, while some were like putting on granite.
Fairways are narrow, and again the rough is thick. This course is good for a beginner, or someone looking to work on their game from the fairway and placement. This is not a course where you grip it and rip it. Also the yardage markers from the tee box are a bit misleading. Take one club down than your normal or you'll overshoot the ball.
There is not a beverage cart on the course and they do not allow outside drinks or food. So if you're planning on playing this course purchase water or drinks at the clubhouse when you check in.
Aslo, there isn't a practice tee, so no time or no place to truly warm up. There is a net you can shoot a few ball in to stretch out, but if you're new to the game or like to get a feel for your swing, hit a range somewhere else first.
For the price, it was a good time, but wouldn't plan on making this a regular course to play.
Incredible value
Very nice golf course.......quite short, but surprisingly difficult....lots of potential problems if you are not straight, and a decent
Chipper and putter......so like the old days.....it's not how far, but how many..
good course
Even though the weather sucked, the course is awesome! staff is a little rude. Person at the front desk was on the phone and kept me waiting for at least 10 min.
Golf cart
I did not noticed the "Walking Rate" may be you should write instead GOLF CART NOT INCLUDED to make it more specified, so I was forced to rent a cart for $12.00 since it's a very hot day.
Just terrible
Went there for my birthday with some friends and they had closed the bar to do some ridiculous bbq. Not a big deal but they didn't have any selections for drinks. Plus no mixed drinks. That was fine but they didn't have to be rude about it. The course condition was just awful. This is cheapest course around and they show you why.
Fun but a little pricy
It's a fun track but a little pricy for the conditions. The lady at the front is not very friendly. It's a good place if you're learning how to play because it's not too crowded.
great value
This is the best condition I've seen since I've been playing here (10 years)
Good times
Had a great time golfing 18 holes due to the staff being very friendly and the course in good condition.
Great greens...adequate fairways
Nice challenging short course...scenic...not crowded at all... Food/drink facility closed despite published hours that said it would be open. Greens in super shape with challenging slopes and pin placement. Great time, tho, for the $16 website price!
Great Condition
Fairways and greens in excellent shape considering drought measures in CA. Not a long course but great practice for course management skills.
Other courses to play around here
There are other courses to play around here. Conditions were very poor and could uses some basic care. Would have liked to see this course in its prime.
Easy course to play
It is fun to play there as not crowd and easy course...
Beautiful course, TERRIBLE management
The course is awesome. Even though it's a bit short, it is very challenging. A must play. The manager Jan is awful, unprofessional and very rude. Very unpleasant to deal with her when getting your cart, luckily she said she's not usually working the pro shop so thumbs up to you if you don't have to deal with her before your game. Tee boxes, greens and fairways are very well kept!
