Fustrating
I use to enjoy coming to this facility, but now it is more work to have to deal with the impatient and rude staff. I was one of the first times to go out and I was told 2 different things as to the cart rule for the day. The marshal proceed to yell at me even after I told him what the pro shop and the starter told me. Also it is not enjoyable to have to take into account the course workers while trying to configure your approach shot.
Great course
After reading other reviews of this course I was a little worried about playing here, but I'm glad I did. The course does have a couple of "tricky" holes, but the starter gave us some good advice how to play the course and it worked our well.
The course was challenging, fun and well maintained. There is a bit of a drive between holes but nothing too ridiculous.
Really nice course
Nice challenging course. Not for the 100 plus crowd.Fairway sand traps, some water and a lot of blind shots due to the elevation of the fairways. Fairways were in good condition for the time of year. Greens in good shape and can be frustrating. Not too fast but nothing is flat at this course. Over all I really enjoyed it and will return.
A must play for me in San Diego
Lots of elevation changes. Shot placement is critical. Bunkers very difficult. Lots of carry holes. Poor shots will punish you. Both 9's equally good. Course has lots of character.
Fun to Play
This course is in good shape. The greens run good but they are a little slow ( 9 ) there is a GPS look at it closely, some holes you have layup off the tee.
Great Design, Sloooow Greens
CMR is a wonderful, challenging design I've been playing for 25+ years. Greens are challenging with tiering and not-so-subtle breaks. Unfortunately for me (single-digit hcp), in the last 18 months the greens are the SLOWest I've ever seen them. Mgmt probably wants to speed up play and reduce 3-putting but stimpmeter readings around 7-8 are like putting on your home carpet. C'mon CMR, cut the greens!
Great run
This course is challenging and maintained very well.
Challenging course
Great course....you will definitely use every club in your bag
Course had 4 very outstanding and interesting holes
We enjoyed the course very much Pro shop was excellent
Very Nice course, but LONG cart rides between each hole
This was a very nice course, mostly set-up for the club members as the signage for first timers is very poor. The course is constructed in the mist of a nice, mostly upscale residential community with fairly wide fairways, lots of blind spots and many hills and gullies. I played with a guy who knew the course well and that was a huge help, as I would have been lost without his help. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition and seemed well maintained. My only criticism would be that the course is laid-out with very long drives between each hole. Most cart rides are 2 - 3 minutes, some a little longer. That lengthens to time-of-play by at least a half hour over most other comparable golf courses.
Beautiful but can be exasperating the first time.
Never played this course before so every hole was a discovery ' sometimes too late. There are several blind holes, only one of which is marked with a stake to indicate the best line to hit your drive. Besides that there are hazards that aren't apparent from the tee. On hole 3 a good drive over the first, apparent obstacle will find the hidden ravine behind. As for plain difficult, the fifth hole, a 450 yd dogleg par 4 requires a drive down the left side to have any chance of reaching but the fairway runs steeply from right to left into a ravine so you have maybe 20 yds to land your drive. The next hole is a 200 yd par 3 uphill to a green sloped steeply back to front. Go past the flag and you're looking at a three put. Getting past those two holes near par is something to brag about. If you usually shoot in the low to mid eighties you can add 5 shots to that the first time you play. Still the course is in very good shape, plus a couple severely downhill holes allows you to claim a three hundred yd drive if you really pure it.
LOTS OF GREAT HOLES WITH CHALLENGING GREENS
GREAT COURSE LONG FAIRWAYS WITH SOME DOGLEGS,AND SOME GREAT WATER HOLES,I LIKE THE ONE ON THE 17TH HOLE WITH A DOUBLE POND AND A BIG BOULDER IN IT THAT IS IN FRONT OF THE GREEN .AND THE 18TH HOLE IS STRAIGHT UP A HILL.THIS IS A GREAT GOLF COURSE.I HOPE TO BE PLAYING HERE AGAIN REAL SOON.
Much Improved
Course is in the best shape I have seen it in for several years. The only exception is that some tee boxes have yet to grow back in due to conditioning--hard to find a level lie or grass on these.
Fairways are green and the greens were absolutely in great shape. Traps need additional sand but they were maintained and correct club selection made them okay to navigate. Cart path only on several holes reduced pace of play but not significantly.
What a Great track!!!
This is a must play! I have played this course twice in the last 8 years. I cannot believe I waited so long to get back there. It is very challenging as well as it is beautifully laid out!!
10/22/2013
Great course and maintained well. I played an early morning weekday and it was fairly busy. I was paired up with another single and another twosome joined us.
The rate of play was on par and there were some good challenges throughout the course. I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely play it again.
A fun change
It is a target golf course. Don't expect to just blast away at this course you have to hit your spots to scores well. It is a fun change from a traditional course. It is well kept and fun.
I like the drastic elevation changes
Well worth the money. Very challenging. You really need to be straight on your tee shots.
Nice course, interesting holes, outstanding greens!
I like playing this course course, its is well maintained, as well as a very interesting course. The greens are really oustanding, and I like how the layout makes you think. A very enjoyable place to play!
Bring balls
If you shoot in the mid 90's and like to grip it and rip it, then make sure to bring plenty of balls. All the holes are isolated with residential housing bordering most of the holes. This course is well maintained and is more suited to more tactical players. The course is not that long so you may want to leave your driver in the bag for most of the holes.
Better hit them straight!
The course was a joy to play. Very well maintained and challenging. The fairways are extremely tight on a few holes so hitting them straight is paramount. Course management keeps you thinking, you cannot just "grip it and rip it" like some other courses. The ball can roll along way if hit correctly.
