Some very tough holes.
Overall a good golf course. # sets of tees pick your poison.
no gps but charged on green fees
green fees supposed to include GPS. but new GPS are being installed. they should have mentioned that in their website. no GPS were available. discounts should have been given.
Pleasant Suprise
The Staff were great, the course was pretty well maintained and very interesting. The elevation changes make the course fun to play. Our pace of play was 4 hours. Lots of houses on the course, but none are in play.
It is in great shape
I WILL LIKE TO PLAYED AGAIN...IS CHALLENGING..AND WANT THE REVANGE..
needed a cheap and descent place to play
$23 witrh a cart is excellent deal. gps was not working in the cart so that hurt a little bit.
Very interesting course
Course was in great shape. Unique hazards and interesting placement mad it challenging.
Saddened by the shape of the course
Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club used to be a nice course with well maintained fairways and greens. There was a day when the greens were smooth and fast.
The fairways had some really bad spots and the greens are chewed up. I've noticed lately that many greens on courses that used to be really nice are chewed up because of a lack of caring by the individuals playing golf. It's sad. This course's greens need some TLC as do their fairways. Certainly not worth the $59 I paid for greens fees when I had to spend nearly 3 minutes on every hole fixing ball marks on the green in order to get a decent roll to the hole.
Beautiful course
Scenic, well maintained course. It was fun to play, the staff was friendly, and the fairways were spacious. The play was rather slow, but the extra time allowed one to take in the views of nature
challenging greens
Carmel Mountain Ranch winds along canyons on the side of a mountain, and has a some noticeable elevation changes. The greens are in very good shape. While not scary fast, they are quick and roll true, and have a lot of contours. That makes it important to control your distance to pins. If you want to score, keep it below the flag!
This course has great variety
We played this course a couple weeks back for the first time and had a great time. I am not a great golfer by any means, but this course provided a great variety of shots, elevation changes, and green variability that make it a fun challenge for all skill levels.
The GPS on the carts is very helpful and I really enjoyed the course layout. Every hole is completely seperate from the next. The course meanders through a neighborhood and the views are excellent as well. It takes a while to play because of how seperated the holes are so make sure you leave yourself enough time.
Course squeezed in between homes
The course has some interersting holes but feels squeezed in between homes on a few too many holes. The trip between some holes are extreme were you cross a commercial street on one occasion. The conditions were acceptable , similar to many other courses we play in San Diego in their price range. I would play this type of squeezed, short track an average condition twice a year. There are better options .
Had a Good Time
This was the first time playing this course. Even though it is a short course it was a little challenging. The par 3's are long with the greens surrounded by either water or bunkers. The carts had a touch screen display where you could record your score, a view of each hole and yardage to the green. It also showed where other players were on the hole. The only complaint would be the club house snack bar. There wasn't much of a choice of food to order. It mainly had alcohol to serve.
Greens in great condition
the course is over watered. too many wet spots. no need to be watering at 10 am .
It's some challenge, but I'd like recommend
I scored the same score as my life best.
It's some difficult, but fun.
Fun and challenging course
This course gives you the opportunity to hit every club in your bag. Some par 4s require an iron off the tee for distance and accuracy reasons. Hilly course with interesting elevation changes making for scenic, challenging and sometimes blind shots. Most greens are large and course is well-maintained. Electric carts with GPS included . Necessary since you will be driving considerable distance between some greens and tees through tunnels under the streets and across some streets of the neighborhood. Played on July 19th and everybody in the group wants to come back and play the course again.
Challenging course
This course is nice and challenging with sloping fairways and undulating greens. However it runs through housing areas and each hole is very spread apart it was too much driving between holes. Seemed very desolate.
Great course for the money. I'd definitely play again.
Greens played slow and were in great condition. The fairways were also nice and even the rough wasn't too bad to play out of. The Par 3's are pretty tough especially the one that's 214 with an army of bunkers protecting the front. All in all I had a great time and look forward to playing again.
Front played great, about 1 1/2 hours
Very slow on the back...about 3+ hours to get the back 9 in. I thought the staff could have done a better job of moving the groups in front of us along. Nice course, in pretty good shape.
The course has an elegant but challenging feel.
This course offers a variety of challenging holes but also is very rewarding for well played shots. If you manage the course well, you can score well. The greens are in great shape right now (July, 2013) although a little on the slow side. Overall, a great place to play.
