Slow Play!
Absolutely ridiculous 5 and a half hour round of golf yesterday at Mission Trails. There were Marshals on the course but I watched as one drove by a group that was at least two holes behind without a word. The Marshals get free golf and no money so they ride around all day and do absolutely nothing. At least waiting 10-20 minutes on each hole with some backed up with 3 groups on the tee.
Greens fantastic shaoe
Great course for the value. Greens in great shape. Fairways bare in spots. Bumping for fairway grass was required. Pace if play great.
Five Hour Round on a Tuesday
I play here often but they really need to step up their efforts regarding pace of play. We had a group in front of us that was a hole behind after the 1st hole. Then it got worse. We finally called the clubhouse who sent out a Marshall who sat in the cart in a phone call for 15 minutes and only talked to the group when we insisted. By the 14th hole the group was 4 holes behind and had the entire course backed up.
Used Golf Now, but still $100 for 2!
We've played here 3 times now, all pretty nice, but yesterday, they started us off on #10 Vs #1, and it is more difficult that way.
Course has really gotten better since years ago.
Slow pace of play
Cool course for a good price on golf now. Pace of play was super slow. 2.5 hours to play front 9. We had 3 groups on the 4th tee box…..
Mission Snails still in the rotation
When it's packed this place lives up to its nickname, no doubt. But the hot deal price is nice and conditions are pretty good (just don't play after it rains). The fairways, collars and greens were much better than I remember playing it a few months ago. More uniform fairway to rough areas and another guy in my group said they are working to shrink the greens. The front nine is crammed in but the back nine has some great views of Lake Murray & Cowles Mtn and offers more of a challenge. The range has good balls and mats. They brought back the snack cart at the turn but don't expect more than burger/dog/chips/drinks options. The bar is decent for drinks & sports on weekends post-round and balcony great view of 18 green. Lower your expectations and have fun out there!
Nice course, slow pace
This was a nice little course. Pretty short but a fun layout. The problem was the pace. Lots of beginner players who don't know about golf. Lots or arrent shots at other players due the close proximity of the fairways. We had a lot of groups jump in front at the turn or just on holes in the back nine. We were backed up 3 to 4 groups per hole. They had a marshal but he only drove around picking up trash and collecting something off the trees.
This course is perfect to work on your game.
Playing this course gives me the opportunity to use all of my clubs. The greens are also challenging along with the sand traps. I will definitely play this course again.
Nice local course
Green condition improved a lot and good local course. Definitely recommend playing again
Fun Course
I've played this course many times and it is a great value. The course is in good condition and the holes are pretty fun.
There isn't the super friendly greeting that you get from most courses, but the staff isn't rude either.
Pros: Reachable holes with lots of undulations that keep the game interesting and makes you think about the best club for each hole instead of just grabbing driver.
Cons: Patchy fairways, cement bunkers, usually not a Marshall to keep the pace of play going and the pin isn't switched daily so there get to be some roughed up holes that are shrunk due to days of putts going in and getting pulled out.
Mission Trails is overall a good track with tons of potential.
Better than I Expected!
I played MTGC last on May 23, 2025 and I must say the course was in excellent shape! The fairways were public-course lush; the greens were grown in, tight, green, well-paced, and cut and rolled (as always, I wish golfers fixed their own ball marks … and divots!). Tee boxes were fair to good. Bunkers could use more sand and were generally wet. Green fees were high with a cart, however, in line with, and relatively “fair”, as measured against other courses in SD County. Definitely very playable and enjoyable.
Most improved course!
I use to play this course as a ayers club member. The course was in poor condition back then. I played for the first time in about 4 years and can't believe the improvements. It was awesome to see and play!
Nice greens
Overall a pretty decent course for price. Only complaint was the less than friendly man who worked in pro shop. It was our first time playing there so we weren't familiar with the layout of course, he didn't tell us where to grab a cart ( they were out of sight from where we were in the pro shop), he didn't tell us we were partnered up with another pair and then was rude telling us we're up now 15 minutes before our tee time. He wasn't your typical golf pro who is helpful and friendly, not really an enjoyable welcome to the course and start to the round.
