Fun course, could use a starter or someone to ensure pace of play
Overall was a great time. Just 4 random guys enjoying an afternoon at the course. Fast greens, well kept bunkers, and the only critique I have would be the addition of a starter at the beginning of the course to check players in for their appropriate tee time. Too easy for anyone to just jump in out of order and try to fit themselves in between groups. Will most likely return.
....nice to play at Mission Trails again........
....joined up with a fine threesome, cart path only front 9 cuz of recent rains, fairways were good not to soggy, greens were fast, watchout goin' down hill, many subtle inclines you can't see, look closely....don't need to hit em hard, unless goin' up hill...aim approach right on 12, it's nasty left......pace was very good for a weekday......it's sorta, kinda getting affordable once again, so it would be good to play more often there......
Worst course in San Diego area
Played the course last year when it was really soggy. Wanted to give it another try. I thought it might be better dry. It was not.
Design is poor. Conditioning is awful, particularly the lumpy greens. I do not think they have seen a roller in years. Dusty, dry, dead fairways, but with muddy tire tracks in several of the landing areas to swallow up balls.
Pace of play was poor. Ambassadors did nothing to keep things moving. Four hours to play a short course like this is sad.
Do not waste your money and time on this course.
Gimmicky and no grass
No grass with rollouts that went OB on straight shots, gimmicky pin locations and overall bleh.
Better than Expected
Hadn’t played Mission Trails for a few years. I arrived late, but they rushed me through check in and I caught my group in the tee box on #3. I’m not a big fan of the course layout. It requires a great deal of accuracy to be successful. But the course was in great shape and played very fairly. A good value for the price. Recommend it for high to mid handicappers who can keep it straight.
Pretty Good Value Course
I’ve played Mission Trails occasionally for the past 25 years. This course is in much better shape than it was 20 years ago. The greens are challenging and the fairways have pretty good grass. The bunkers are wet sand/dirt mostly and the tee boxes are not great, but overall, the course is pretty good for the money.
Bang for your buck
This course is nothing special but for the price it’s the best you’re going to find in San Diego area (mt Woodson is also a great deal but further away). I enjoy the back 9 layout better then the front but it is a good beginner to intermediate level course fairly open with a couple difficult holes on front and back. A few short par 4s help with the scorecard too. Fun fact Phil Mickelson used to play here in is youth and pre teen years. Overall I love this course and it’s close by my work,if I can ever sneak out of the office early you will catch my playing 9 holes in the winter and a full 18 in the spring and summer. I recommend and it’s much better than its neighboring course Carlton oaks.
BB
Great course wide-open will definitely play here again
Good price
Great price including cart! Greens were in decent shape, fairways/ tee boxes could have been better.
