Fun layout
Disclaimer, I am a 17 handicap and am from East coast where I am used to flat courses. I really enjoyed the hilly layout, which was challenging and picturesque. That may be normal for here though. The course was in good shape, and based on the drought suspect it is as good as can be expected. Greens were in great shape, fast but smooth. Breaks were not too bad. Fairways occasionally tight, but usually open areas to find errant shots. Staff and marshall extremely friendly and helpful. Played on a Sunday afternoon in 4 hours which I thought was great.
Mission Trails
There wasn't a starter at the beginning so our tee time was pushed back 20-25 minutes as walk-ons ans stand-bys just went up to the first and started on their own. Once an ambassador arrived, everything fell into place. I have played here many times and this is the first time I have had any issues. I will still play here again.
Enjoyable Day
Clubhouse very accommodating when I got hung up in business meeting, they got us out quickly after our arrival. Course in good shape, greens were fast. Challenging course, DON'T pull the driver out all the time or you will be in trouble. Glad we were paired with couple that had played before. A few bling shots. Overall good day.
First time playing it, ast time playing it.
My buddy and I had heard through some friends that this place was fun, so we decided to check it out. We set up a 11:45 tee time. Arrived at the course at 11:30. we where in line at the pro shop by 11:35. I think they where hosting a tournament because the pro shop was busy. We finally got to the front of the line around 11:42. The guy helping us name Tom was a real jerk. Started giving my buddy and i attitude about being late and how he shouldnt let us play know. Went on about this for ten minutes at one point answering a call and keeping us waiting for 5 minutes. He finally said "get out there and we'll see if we can get you on the course" Left and realized he hadn't given us a cart key. So i walked back in to the pro shop and he answered with "what know?!' a total and complete A HOLE. Starter was a lady with quite a bit of attitude as well. Like this people really dont want to be there. Would make a great course with the right staff. There's 5 better courses within 20min of here. Go there. They'll treat you better.
Dry Conditions
Great pace of play, but very dry conditions due to drought. Very hilly and challenging for walkers. Watch out for those drainage ditches thought out the front nine!
Nice track
We played mid day on Friday and the pace of play was great. Overall the course was in good shape and the greens were rolled nicely
The trails
I truly enjoyed myself. I thought the greens were going to be baked out and the fairways were going to be beat. I was wrong! The greens were in great shape and the fairways were extremely nice. The pace of play was 3.5 hours. That is expected teeing off at 6:45. It was a great day, definitely worth the 30 dollars we paid.
pleasantly suprised
fairways had some spots that needed attention but were marked as ground under repair.. greens were fantastic.. they had good speed and held very well. being from out of town had got paired up with 2 locals helped.. there are quite a few blind shots. i enjoyed the course but too many people out there round took almost 5hrs.
Major Improvements
We have been playing this course the last 8 years and in the past year, it has gotten so much better. My best friend comes down from Az twice a year to play and could not believe the difference in the course since Jan. All the greens are getting in great shape, use to be dry and bumpy, but now balls roll great! The fairways are wider than ever and rough is just right to where you can still find a ball instead of looking for it buried. Who ever is running the course now, job very well done! Note: on one hole, think the 11th, always hard to see the 150 marker and they have now put a flag on it, so much better!
Great Value
great course for the price. If you are going to buy lunch at the turn make sure to buy the lunch special when you pay your green fees.
Best round I had in long time
Great golf course the lay out was beatiful,,freindly people that wok there. I will definetly recommend this course to all my friends. It's was a great round should a 74 and weather and service was outstanding.
Great layout. Bad conditions. Mixed staff.
I have played MT many times. It is one of my favorite courses in terms of layout. The front 9 has some unique holes that I love. The conditions are really bad. I know there are water restrictions but there are parts that are rutted. Super large dead spots on the fairway but the rough looks green and lush. I don't get. Pace of play is really bad because they overbook on busy weekends. On normal weekdays it's fine.
Most the staff are super kind but I always find the guy grilling at the 9th hole to be rude. Like he is inconvenienced by my buying some of his food.
Greens were perfect
In the drought of our lifetime here in San Diego. Despite that the course is in spectacular shape - especially the greens. Even got my first Birdie on a par 5 hole
slow play
If you have lots of time to play its fine but 3.5 hr front 9 thats a bit much they need more Marshalls to speed up slow players i won't play there again unless i have 7.0 hr to play ha ha ha won't be back!!!!!!
old public course needs tlc
The course is an old public hilly course with dry fairways, weedy rough. Greens were ok but slow. Some wierd holes with drainage canal running through fairways or alongside.
No beverage cart was seen.
Find another course if you can for under $30 through golfnow as this course was not worth it.
You get what you pay for
Pros: cheap rates, its is worth the money you pay, really nice greens conditions actually, all 18 are really nice and even softer than most in CA. Some fun really downhill and uphill par 3's that can be challenging, if you tee off really early you can play the course in 3 hours as a foursome no problem, we did that last weekend.
Cons: fairways and rough are a mixture if different grasses and lots of crab grass, very rough shape but they are about to cut a lot of that out as we saw spray painted lines on all fairways. We've heard they are gonna save a lot of water and turn it into more of a desert style course which could make it really fun and nice; decided to try an afternoon round midweek for $25 with a cart which was a really good deal, but it took us an extra hour to play it than it did early morning the previous weekend. Lots of local hackers like to play here it seems like and holes 1,2,3 can be a golf ball war zone.
a bit hilly but nice
front nine pace a bit slow but much quicker after that.
overall good shape greens very nice. a few hazards
but not too many pretty wide open for the most part.
would play again.
To slow
Five hour plus round....very slow, waited every hole. I will not return.
Really slow play
My husband I had a 4PM tee time thinking that we might be able to play at least 12-14 holes. However, the 2 guys playing in front of us really slowed down the pace of play. There were 2 groups behind us that we're also waiting on each hole. These 2 guys would tee off 2-3 times on each hole. They would also take multiple shots each time they taking their shots. Also, spent forever to looking for their balls each time their balls would go out of bounds. We love playing this course as it is a good course and has great views and a variety of holes. It took about 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 9 holes. With no course marshals on the course there is no one to talk too.
