The course greens were in good shape !
I was very dispointed I took the friday off to play and booked our tee time at 12:35 pm. when I checked in they said they were running about 20 min behind. We waited at every hole and noticed there was no Marshal to speed the play along we had a group ahead of us the took there time we only got to the 14th hole and did not finish because of darkness.
Difficult greens challenging course.
Mission Trail golf course playing well, the greens are difficult to read, and they are fast. The 18th is the only hole that is not fast. When I talked to staff about providing a veggie option, staff said they would not ask management for a vegetable option. I informed my playing partner and he said he asked staff for an egg salad or cheese sandwich and also ignored his request. So, bring your lunch. The course does have plenty of water to drink.
Fun easy practice game course
The course played quick, it was almost empty when we were out there. The course had to many ground hazards which was ok because of the rain the previous days. The sand traps were something less to be desired. The tee boxes were just destroyed, they should have noticed that and adjusted. There was no open area to place a tee shot, you were going to be in the trash regardless of what you did.
Great course for the money. Good deals to be had on golfnow.
The only reason that I am writing this review is because I shot my lowest round ever in my life. The course was is good shape, not great shape. The fairways were ok to good, but if in the rough, you were lucky to have any grass at all. The positive side the greens were great, very smooth and receptive to good shots. I commend them on their greens. Great day!
Course is fairly short and not too difficult and price is reasonable.
Mission Trails is an adequate golf course that has some interesting holes. The greens are usually in pretty good shape but some of the fairways need work. The on course rangers do a good job interacting with the golfers.
Loved the experience
Nice course and conditions and great value. Did not like the starter allowing 5somes out in front of us though - slowed play.
wonderful
alittle dry in places needs water, other area`s to much water alittle soft, greens were wonderful , very nice at pro shop help get us out alittle early very nice of them to do that!!!!
This course requires better management.
On a Monday AM tee time; my three-some was behind a four-some, and it took us 5 hrs and 45 minutes to play 18 holes. The four-some ahead of us was teeing off from the blue tees, and they were truly awful hackers. Also they had carts, and played one ball at a time. We talked to the ambassadors several times, but they did not do anything until the 17th hole (on the 17th hole they told them to pick up the pace a little - ??). It was truly an awful experience. I live only a few minutes from the course, but I am not sure if I will ever play this course again.
Challenging course. Requires good course management.
Nice course. Has some pretty short holes, but they require good course management. High risk/reward. Shot my best score ever for 9 holes on the front. Found the back to be more challenging. I like the course because most of the holes don't require really long shots to reach the greens in regulation, which is good for my game, but it still presents a good challenge for me.
Fairways were fair, green were good.
Course was wet and muddy in spots. Greens were in the best condition in years. Pace of play is always on the slow side on this course. Front nine is slower than back nine because of hole layout and target shots. Overall, this course is a good value for the average golfer.
Cost was great for what you get
For $21, this course was great. Not perfect, but pretty good for the price. I'll recommend it and come play again. Challenging enough, but not too hard for an novice player.
One of the best values in San Diego.
This is my home course since I live about 1.5 miles away and I play here at least once a week. The course is generally in pretty good shape but sometimes there are a few drainage issues but they usually don't come in to play. And every now and then the flag colors are inaccurate for the pin placements but these two issues are minor to me.
The staff is always very friendly. They are very personable and nice and they act like your friend without any pretentiousness.
The course isn't the longest but I really like it because there is a lot of strategy involved which makes it fun. On many holes there are options to take a little risk and go for it or play more conservative. I like that. And with some of the sloping fairways and all of the trees and bunker placements it calls for accurate shots and a lot of shots that you can shape a little. It is a very fun course and one of the best values in San Diego. I would recommend it to everyone.
This course is great for the shorter hitters.
I am not the longest hitter of the ball, so I loved the reachable par 5 on the back nine. Birddie!!! Played the course in 4 hrs. Fairways were dry and cut low so my ball rolled out nicely. Only problem was that there was much standing water in the rough which can eat up your balls. Alot of fun, can't wait to play here again.
Decent course for the money
Not a spectacular layout, and not very long, but it's decently maintained. Good value for an 18 hole course if you get a decent discount on golfnow. Plus the burgers at the turn aren't too shabby.
Great local couse - Nice mix of easy/hard
My handicap is 31, my husbands is 8 - and we both enjoy playing Missions Trails. I'd definitely a Red Tee player, and find the course just about right for me. That is challenging without making me want to just give up. My husband plays from the blue tees, and likes the challenging traps, out of bounds, and reading the greens. It's one of the places he and THE BOYS meet on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Nice Local Course
Have played Mission Trails many times and have always enjoyed the layout. Players rewarded for shot-shaping abilities.
fun spot
the front 9 is pretty fun with all different models of holes that provide a good challenge of shot type, but offers scoring as well. the back 9 has a majority of the same type holes and it pays to hit it strait because thats where the hole tends to be, strait in front of you a few hundred yards. the best thing about this place is that even if your normal shot shape is slice you can just go over to the next fairway and hit your ball back over.
If the shoe fits...
This course is great if you can secure a twilight rate. You can't beat $15 to $20 but the greens are in desperate need of attention. It's like putting over the Rockies. I golf here once a week because I live nearby and the staff is great. Other than that, the mantra holds true... You get what you pay for.
Challenging course need good course management
Overall conditions are great. The greens are a little rough, but with the hot weather I would consider them in great shape. Good course management is the best approach for the best experience. It would be o.k. if the nines were reversed for a year or two. Each nine presents a unique challenge. OUT is better for your iron play it plays a little shorter and IN is longer and better for great drivers to show their stuff.
: This course has great features and is fun to play, the front 9 is real different from the back 9...and the course has some challenging holes.
