Great day in the sun. Photo submitted by DinoSheardown on 04/27/2020
tuff but rewarding
this course makes you hit shot to certain spots to score well also tuff shots can be rewarded
Coyote Hills
First time playing here. Tight, target golf layout up/down rolling hills. Par 70. Greens were very challenging. Course was in okay but far from great playing condition. $75 rack is too much, could only recommend on a discounted fee.
Great course!
Coyote Hills is one of my favorite courses. Lots of elevation changes and lots of tees to choose from. It’s always in very good condition. Most of the holes are quite interesting.
Hidden Gem!
Played around 1140am and the pace of play was good (4-hours)! This course is in great shape and the staff is always friendly. It feels like a semi-private golf club to me. The carts are always clean, fully charged & packed with ice in the mini cooler. There's also USB outlets to charge your electronic devices. Many of the holes will have elevations changes which makes Coyote Hills very unique! I'll be back most definitely!
great time
always like the great pace of play and this challenging course
Beautiful
The views from some of these holes are just incredible. Some holes have very unique and exciting layouts that it's tough to find elsewhere. I played a late afternoon round on a Saturday and the pace of play was fine but not exceptional. I believe we started around 2:00 PM and had enough daylight to tee off on the 18th but not quite enough to finish the hole - none of the foursome could locate our second shots from the fairway in the darkness, but maybe if we were better players it would have been easier! The group behind us was also loudly playing rap music while waiting for us to tee off, which was annoying until we asked them to play through. Management was friendly but not the best communicators, and gave us some conflicting and confusing information - this had no negative impact on our round once we actually got out on the course, though. The course is literally in the middle of an oilfield, but I honestly didn't find it distracting. Overall, great value for how much of a departure it is from other similarly prices courses in the area.
Long day of golf
Pace: One of the longest round that was not due to weather making whole course cart path only. Wait on every hole, no big back hole, just slow groups in front.
Greens: overall good, most shots landed within 1 foot of pitch mark. speed of greens were consistent. Some were a little rough with un repaired marks and sand to repair said marks.
Layout: Liked different hole layouts with forced carry, water and streams in front of greens causing you to choose layup or fire at it. Plenty of elevated tees and greens.
Staff: Everyone I interacted with were very friendly and a beverage cart drove by me a minimum of four times asking if anything needed.
Fun course
Nice layout, many memorable holes. Conditions fair, fairways good but a couple of the greens are struggling. Staff always friendly.
Just fine
Decent course. Kinda tight and short. Condition was just average. Not worth full price.
Very nice course - worth playing !
Very nice condition and unique but fair layout. Front is tight and hilly and not overly long - back nine is more traditional. Greens putt very well and hold shots. A shame that 50% of people don't repair ball marks but that seems to be the norm. Handicaps of 10 or less should play back tees - too short from white and blue. Definitely worth the trip.
Solid Course
I played super twilight ($30), so the pace of okay was great (wasn’t crowded), but the course condition could use some love. The greens weren’t as bad as some reviews stated below, but they could use some work. The layout of the course is awesome. Would I play here again? Absolutely. Would I play here again for $100+ on a weekend morning, no. There are lots of other courses around the area with better conditions that could be played for $50-$80 on a weekend morning. I would be back for another afternoon tee time though. Solid course.
My first ever 6 hour round; first and last time playing this course
As the title notes, my round was 6 hours on Saturday. Sure, it was a weekend and you can't expect a 4 hour round, but 6 hours?! On one hole I called the pro shop to tell them there were 5 groups on one hole (note - tee times are 10 minutes apart so I don't know how this is possible) and they said they'd check on it and send out a marshal. I never saw marshal. Then we get to the super downhill par 4 and we are the 4th group waiting on the tee - and there was a group on the fairway and one on the green, so 6 groups on one hole. This happened on basically every other hole - we'd get to the tee box and the group in front of us would still be waiting.
On top of all of this, the greens were in really bad shape - NO ONE fixes their ball marks, so there were bumps and holes all throughout every green. On some of the greens they tried to repair these marks by filling them with some blue/green product, but the holes were still there and they were distracting and ugly visually.
I got a HOT DEAL on golfnow for a weekend, with an additional discount, and only paid $54. But I would NOT pay that to play this ever again. It was my first time playing Coyote Hills, and definitely my last.
Following up on my review, course management has followed up with me directly and specifically addressed each of the items in my review. They were apologetic and explained the especially slow play for the day. I really appreciated it.
