Great day in the sun. Photo submitted by DinoSheardown on 04/27/2020
Poor Time Management
I had a tee time scheduled for 9:30 AM and didn't tee off until 10:20 AM. Almost a hour behind my original tee time! I was the first group to go after the shotgun tournament that the course was holding. I don't know why the course even offered up a 9:30 AM tee time.
I ended up trailing the last group of the shotgun tournament up until the 14th. It was extremely brutal.
You'd think if you're paying $90 bucks a round, the flow of play and the management would have their scheduling somewhat well managed, apparently not!
Disappointed in design
Guess I should have read more reviews before deciding to play here. Relatively short quirky design. Target Golf. Views of surrounding hills better than the course although they have some beautifully landscaped ponds. Pretty narrow so put the driver away most of the day. Pace was poor. Couldn't speed up playing partners who never heard of "ready golf". We felt sorry for players behind us. Conditions were average. Appears filling fairway divot and raking bunkers is a lost art! Greens were pretty bumped up partly due to recent rains.
Great experience minus the starter
Coyote hills is a beautiful and fun course to play! Tom in the pro shop was extremely friendly and nice! We had the first tee time at 6:20. The starter was probably the rudest arrogant mean person I've ever met. He wasn't in his office when we drove up. He then yelled at our foursome for waiting til it was light out stating we booked the tee time and it's our problem it's still dark out for another ten minutes. Please note they offered the time of 6:20 so we took it assuming we would be the first group off the tee as soon as it was light out. I suggest coyote hills talk to their starter and let him know we are paying customers and not his servants.
Not a great day to play
The course was in fairly good condition considering all the rain we've had in So Cal. But, because the rates were low because of the Players Club Membership, the course was very crowded and we had to wait on every hole. We had a 6 hour round on a Wednesday!
How the course is made.
This course is a very challenging course for the average player. Almost every hole has a OB on both sides and if not that then it is a water hazard. This means there is no room for error. Even if you hit a good shot of the tee you still have to be very careful about your second shot.
The perfect round by far
This course has many beautiful holes, and the staff is super friendly, and it's got the best quality burger by far. I would just go there for the colossal burger at the turn.
Slow Play, Overpriced
Only reason I played on this day was because of the hot deal, otherwise I would never play this track. Green fees are just way too much for what you get. Also, play tends to be slow. On this day, we teed off 15 minutes late due to tournaments, and took 4 hours and 50 minutes to complete round. Had to wait for group ahead on every shot. Play was slow last time we played here a few months back. If you can get a hot deal and tolerate slow play, then it's worth the play.
Fun golf all the way
I used to play Coyote Hills 16 years ago when attending my master program at UCLA and loved this course however my golf level at that point was average. We returned to LA area for the Thanksgiving and was a truly pleasure to find out that course continues in nice shape and it is still a very fun course where multiple elevation changes, different slopes, challenging greens. Good maintenance, friendly staff and nice food.
nice course to play
very nice course in oc , course is excellent condition.
well done maintenance.
Fun course, poor pace of play
I played this course for the first time last week. I played a twilight round, and overall: it was a beautiful course with plenty of beautiful holes and challenging elevated tee boxes, the pro shop was full of friendly, helpful staff, however, the pace of play was very bad. I was backed up on the 8th tee box with 5 parties in front of me. I didn't tee off until about 35 minutes after I pulled up to the line. Great course, pay to go in the morning!
Need to have good straight drives
If longer it would make it more challenging ! I like it , it will test how good your short games is!
course is in great shape
Loved the layout and how well the course was maintained. For a senior the white tees make the course very fair.
Every staff person their is very helpful, professional, and very friendly.
They make you feel that your business is appreciated.
