Slowest round ever
It took an hour to play 3 holes on a Wednesday. The course itself was in nice shape, but only play if you don’t have any other plans for the day. Won’t be playing again until at least daylight savings if I want to finish.
Improving
They are finally giving the coarse the maintenance it has needed for a while. The views and layout never get old. The coarse really is a great test of your game. It requires you to play a little different than most courses in the area. They finally have some refreshments available on the coarse. David the clubhouse attendant is a great guy. My only complaint is a group of members with 3 carts and 4 to 6 players that absolutely will not let faster groups play through. They will hold the entire coarse up without even looking back.
Great Course
Played on 10:07am on November 21, 2020.
WOW. Course looked great, and is clearly going through major renovations! All of the bunkers are in the midst of renovation, the club house and apparently cart paths. David in the shop was super nice, and helpful. The food truck was great, and even delivered to me while I was on the 11th hole!!!
Not enough good things to say. It's Winter conditions, greens are amazing but rest of grass is yellow and dormant. Nice to these improvements to all 18 holes. I did hear they are leasing the downstairs to a restaurant next year... that will be nice to finish the round and have a place to sit.
If you are in the area, or haven't played at this course in a while, you need to. It's a challenging layout along the river, fairways are great and greens are amazing right now. Quick note: If you play on the weekend morning you need to book on-line. David told me the course is trying to minimize traffic in the ProShop on busy days due to COVID19. Just a heads up. I will be back!
Hit em' straight..
Sucking the life out of this place.
It's a dang shame that the course that was once one of the best in this area has fallen to this. and no attempt to do anything to draw business in. Other courses are trying to get people back out and this is the ONLY course that is making the person booking the round pay your entire groups round in full before hand. So after taxes, fees, etc you end up dropping over 50 bucks a person for a course that is 35 bucks tops. Can't go inside, no snack bar at the turn. rumor has it they are leasing half the course as it is and looks like they are just trying to milk it for all they can get on the way out. Sad, very sad..
For it being winter the course was in good shape. Enjoyed my round and pace of play.
Beautiful views
This course is very picturesque and challenging. The shots over the river are intimidating and the course seems to go back down the river for ever. Even in December the condition of the course and the greens was fantastic. I definitely want to play there again and again
Gem of a course
We were on vacation in TN and this was an amazing course.
For November golf, the greens were in great shape and a nice challenge with the slopes and speed.
The fairways were well kept and the front nine had multiple par 3's hitting over the N Broad River.
We thoroughly enjoyed this course and would easily go again when in the area.
Played course many years ago. Great course layout. Conditions were decent. Problem began when we arrived and were told they did not have a cart for us. So we hiked over to the range to hit some balls. Practice balls were a joke and covered with mud. Then, back to the starter area to begin our round. Still no carts available and there were 3-4 groups in front of us waiting on carts. Finally, teed off about 30 minutes after our tee time. 2 groups in front of us was a 5-some. Waited every shot. When we would arrive at a tee, the group in front of us was just teeing off. Finished last hole in the dark. It was exhausting. Will never go back.
Pays to know people!!!
They stuck a group in front of us that worked there. 6 people in 3 carts. 5 of them golfing out of 3 bags. Ranger did not do anything to keep pace moving. 2 trips in one.... first and last!!!
Love this course !
We have played this course many times and just love it ! It’s interesting and the scenery is breathtaking. Many improvements are underway which will only enhance our experiences in the future.
Island Point aka River Island
This course is one of the best layouts in east TN, Fairways and Greens are in excellent shape. Today I saw some work being done on the sand traps which is overdue. Traps were the weak point of this course. I highly recommend this course to all the visitors that come to visit this area. This is one of my favorite courses to play and if it stays in this shape , it will be yours unless you’re one of those picky people that find fault with everything. ENJOY!!
Loved the course again. Course was in great shape.
I have always enjoyed this course and this time was no different. Course was in great shape and pace of play was very good. Can't wait to go back.
Great course, it is we’ll kept. If you like beautiful and challenging, this is your course.
Terrific Par Three’s
What a great course, decent shape nice fairways. Friendly Staff
I would recommend this course
Scenic course
This course is worth the drive from Gatlinburg/Sevierville are or from Knoxville!
The layout follows the river with a couple tee shots across the river. Great layout and beautiful scenery. Friendly folks! Course and greens are in good shape!
