Needs some TLC
Played Island Pointe for the first time in four years. Not quite the same course I was used to playing. The layout has long been a favorite, but the conditions were not what I remember. In fairness it was hot and dry, so they didn't have the greens mown to the usual speed I was accustomed to. So our group left a lot of putts short. Bunkers, need a lot of work. What they really need is sand. But, it was still fun, but the cart girl was sort of clueless. She drove right by us on several occasions when water was really needed on a 90 degree day. There was none on the course anywhere. So, it was a good day, just not what I remember from a few years ago.
Used to be a nice tract
This place has gone WAY down hill. Not sure what the new owner has planned, but it doesn’t look good. Due to a 3 group back up, we teed off 30 minutes later than our scheduled tee time, the driving range was “closed” at 10 am due to mowing, the greens were to slowest I have ever seen in my life, very unfriendly staff, fairways were in good shape but rough clearly hadn’t seen much attention this year. River Islands used to be a nice tract, it has since become a goat ranch.
The course has a great layout
Overall course was in outstanding shape. The greens were soft and receptive to approach shots.
Terrible Pace of Play
Course is in decent shape, good layout. Pace of play not enforced whatsoever. Took 5 and 1/2 hours to play round of golf! Called club house to address slow play issue and they did nothing. There are way better courses in the area for better value with better staff than to spend money here.
Great day on the course
Traveled down to this course I've played many times over the years since its been built. This golf course is the best course for public play in East TN. Love, absolutely love the layout, the fairways that are zoysia. Putts rolled true with no bounce what so ever.
Great day at the course
Played this golf course today and have to say this course has the best fairways in East TN. Perfect lie everytime on that zoysia grass they have there. Putts rolled true and smooth. Definitely coming back next trip
AWESOME!
Wow! Course is in great condition - in July. Greens were fantastic! Looks like they are continuing to improve the course, it’s huge. The newest addition of the Food Truck is wonderful. They even allow for mobile ordering!!
The greens were great and I love the zoysia fairways. I highly recommend this golf course.
Wow The most beautiful course.
This course is one of the most beautiful courses in Tennessee.

Instead of me writing a big long review just go to the website.
Greens are very slow
Course was wet due to sprinklers. Some greens were even soaked due to sprinklers
Greens are like putting on a fairway.
I have played this course a lot over the past 20 years, and have never seen it in this kind of condition. The greens were like putting on a fairway. The rough was horrible, if you missed a fairway by as little as 3 yards, your ball was lost. I was extremely disappointed in The course today and probably will never play it again.
Island Time
Really neat course! Holes 1-8 and 16-18 are absolutely amazing!! I wanted to play just those holes again after my round today. Greens were in the best shape I’ve ever played. Fairways were spongy and clean. There were several staff out and about clearing branches and trimming landscaping. Everyone was polite and friendly. If I’m ever back in town I’ll play here again for sure!
No water or additional beverage service past the clubhouse so bring plenty of water or stock up for your round before you begin.
Friday 26
Played Island Pointe and enjoyed it VERY much. There was a bee hive of activity as soon as we pulled it. Guys were landscaping, laying sod and watering. The food truck was open very conveniently near the first tee and it's what this course needed since the halfway shack is never open.
The greens have healed in from aerification and whatever that funk was on them is gone. Beautiful course
I have seen a miracle
I’ve seen a miracle. I play this course all the time so I know it very well. A week and a half ago they punched the greens and they starting to recover. I played Tuesday and I could not believe how fuzzy and bumpy the greens were ,they were not good. Some friends called and wanted to play I reluctantly said yes. Someone there must have a Magic wand lol. I could not believe my eyes the maintenance crew had mowed the greens and roll them holy cow what a difference a day makes. Great job guys keep it at the place is beautiful.
2 steps forward and one step back.
I love this course but on this accession the greens had not fully recovered from being punched. They were very slow and bumpy. They are making progress with the bunkers getting playable sand in more each month but still have a way to go. The scenery was wonderful as usual. Don’t give up on Island Point. It will continue to improve.
Nice course with beautiful scenery and layout
The course was in decent shape. Five sets of tees. Standard yardage markers in fairway and on Par 3 tees. Fairways were firm and cut tight. Greens had been aerated recently and not back to normal yet. Pro Shop was basically empty, but the gentleman working was very pleasant and helpful. I'd play there again, especially at the price I booked online.
