needs some work
I play here at lease once maybe twice a week, and it seems like the the crew is lacking some clean-up skills alot of leafs long (knee deep) grass, I mean it wouldn't take long with a weed eater and a rake.....plus it would help speed up play besides that it's fun place to play the greens are sticky and maintained I'm not being a dick but they could take a little more time on there feet edging little things like that
Awesome layout, poor maintenance
Miss the old Empire. The course can be a challenge for any player. The only issue is the lack of maintenance. Greens were mediocre, fairways and rough had patchy spots.
worth the drive from LA
I have played Emlpire Lakes a few times over the years, and it has never disappointed. Easy to play -challenging without being unfairly difficult. The greens were a little bumpy, but I attributed that to the wet conditions and soft spikes.
The breakfast burrito at the snack bar hit the spot, too.
Some nice challenging holes
Pretty nice course. First time here.
Got to watch for some idiots who dont have
Manners
Great course!
Course was in great shape! Played here when it first opened and when the nationwide tour came, course is showing its age. Still a very challenging course overall.
Good value for the money when you get deals thru GolfNow.
My friends and I got a deal for $19 each for a tee time at 1256. In my opinion, Empire is totally worth the money to play. It's challenging, there are many tees to play from, and the course is usually in decent shape. I wouldn't recommend this course for the beginner golfer, but they have a huge grass driving range for people of all skill levels to practice. I would say that Empire is probably one of the best public courses in the Inland Empire. Will definitely be back if there are deals on GolfNow (which they usually have).
S A D
now that nationwide tour cancelled their stop there, it's like a muni. they are letting it go. horrible conditions, dry, not manicured. SAD.
great for the money
There are two things that I wish this course would do. Allow pushcarts so you can walk it. It is flat and would be a nice walk. And cut the brush around some of the holes and clean it up. It would make the coursed look a whole lot nicer. It is a nice layout and it is well kept for the season though.
Excellent layout
Unfortunately, the driving range is closed Tuesday morning; understandably, this is for maintenance but should be factored in to choosing a tee time.
I played with a regular who had some local knowledge. This was helpful because some landing areas are blind.
The greens were in excellent shape and rolled true.
You beed to play this course
Awesome greens. I always enjoy this course. Nice people. The golf pros, Michael and Sunny, are very very friendly!!!
The Cow Pasture
I can make this short and sweet.
If Arnold Palmer knew that this course with his name on it was in the worst possible condition a course can be he would certainly let heads roll.
Everything from tee to green looks like there use to be a challenging great golf course here once upon a time.
Its that bad. The greens fees should be equivelent to the condition. They should not be 59 to 79 or even 49. Its worth 30 bucks tops.
Fairways
They are dead. Its course wide. Maybe a desease or something. No grooming whatso ever
Tees
Dead as well
Greens are fair but so spongy foot prints remain there so guess what your ball does. In all fairness they are still playable but resemble a leopards skin.
Do not play there until they get there act together, get a new manager or something. It cannot stay this way.
it would of been nice to see a marshal help controll pace of play?!
this is a great course for all levels of golfers. BUTT!! players need to drop a ball at point of entry of o.b instead of all four or sometimes five golfers looking for one golfers golfball for sometimes ten minutes or longer!!! were is the marshal when you need him even after calling for one?? started at 12am and could not finish 18 before dark!!!
This course was moderately challenging but fun to play.
Although the course was under going aerification, it was still fun to play. Staff is very friendly and my friends and I always enjoy playing here.
Bad Shape
The conditions of this course were flat out AWFUL. Tee boxes were torn up, rough was out of control, yellow areas all over. Deads spots on the fairways. I dont think this was an overseeding issue because there was some green spot with dead spots. Looks like a beginner mower just tore the whole place up!
Great experience
The course was in great condition. Many water holes which was nice and visually appealing. The pace of play was not bad, we never waited on the group in front of us which is rare for a weekend. The Marshall came by to say hi and I asked him where the beverage cart was. The Marshall said they don't have one but he would order in our drinks and bring them to us. That is good customer service and we were pleased at how quickly we revived our drinks. There are large ice chests of bottled water every 4-6 holes which was really nice. Great views of the mountains, challenging dog legs, a couple of blind tee shots...overall this is a great course.
A fair test of your game
I always enjoy playing at Empire Lake. It's a fair course that doesn't favor any style of game other than the placement hitter. It doesn't favor the Long Ball or the Person who takes out the driver every Par 4 and Par 5. The greens are typically in good condition and are consistent from hole to hole.
the greens are chewed up.
the root structure of the greens is extremely weak. it's almost like they laid the grass over like a carpet. as a result, they are very chewed up from ball marks; both unrepaired and also repaired ones. I'm not certain, but it seems the greenskeeper is not aerating them regularly (or properly)... the root structure is so weak underneath, it's almost non-existant. the greens are not healthy. otherwise it's a fairly interesting layout. nothing too easy, nothing too challenging. however, they do provide bottled water- free- at the 5th and 10th holes, which is nice. I'm not convinced this makes the course worth $70 on a weekend.
great for the money
Great layout, challenging and reasonable pricing. Complimentary water at select holes. Great service. Highly recommended.
Fairways too yellow, would be nice to see more green for such a recognized course.

Not as good as it use to be
We've played this course many times over the years. The maintence is very poor. Lots of tall weeds where there used to be none. Very sad; the general appearence, it was once pristine.
Dont know what this gut is talking about. must have been a bad day,
