Scenic View of Course Photo submitted by u000005094963 on 02/14/2013
Fun course and a great deal
The Resort course is challenging to play and a great deal as well. Staff is very friendly...even the homeless that live under the bridge and were playing the course allowed us to play through :)...that was a new one... Would play again.
Beautiful course for the price
The course is well maintained, we booked with hot deal and the price was great value, if we were paying at regular green fee we might have passed the opportunity to play this course.
The view is spectacular!
TC Resort Course Challenging But Fun
The Tahquitz Creek Resort Course is challenging from both the white and blue tees, lots of fun because the layout is so creative. Lots of interesting water features, several elevated tees and greens, plus a good variety of doglegs. Staff were friendly and professional from the pro shop to starter to cart barn. The beverage cart was everywhere, helping keep us hydrated. Nice big range with grass to warm up. The homeless camps in the wash within sight of holes 3 and 4, were sad but the few people over there never even looked in our direction, ie, not an issue for golfers. Had played TC years ago, and will play the Resort Course again (soon, I hope).
Poor experience
I booked a hot deal online and was not eligible to get my money refunded so I was stuck with playing this course. I had an afternoon tee time at x:xx but they made us wait an extra hour and a half because they didn't have any golf carts available. We basically had to wait out in the hot sun because they don't have any shade or sitting accommodations for when they make you wait an hour for a golf cart. I remember thinking to myself that all of these workers should get fired. Noone knew what to do. They just sat there and came up with talking point excuses that they had four tournaments that morning and all of their carts needed to be charged up again. Then to make things worse, the sprinklers came on while we finished holes 16-18 because it was that late in the day when the sun was setting. How sad.
No water on course
35 degrees Celsius. No water or unlocked bathrooms on resort course. Poor signeage
Great course great value
Always loved playing here when we come here yearly. Course always in good shape.
I suggest they have the water fountains work properly. One fountain had a hose attachment but it was all rusty metal @ the spout so I wouldn’t drink from that!
Decent track, good conditions. Starters were nice enough albiet a little unorganized. Definitely would play again, especially for twilight prices.
Better than expected
This was our first time playing this course. We flew in from Vancouver and booked at Tahquitz on a friend’s recommendation. We would definitely would go back next time we’re in town.
We played the Resort course. The Legend course was under repair. Beautiful views of the mountains, fairways are generously wide and there weren’t many trick holes.
Other reviewers made it sound like you were playing through a homeless camp, but this wasn’t our experience. We saw a few people who appeared to live on or near the course, but the layout is unique in that there is a fair amount of land on both sides of the creek where some homeless people have taken up residence. Really wasn’t an issue for us.
Fairways and greens were in great shape, though the greens could have been faster.
This course is vulnerable to any heavy rain. The creek that runs through quickly swells after any significant rainfall. On the afternoon that we played our first round, we booked again to return the following day, but it had rained overnight and in the morning. By the time we arrived at the course at noon the next day, they had shut down because the creek had risen so high it made several holes unplayable.
There’s a fair amount of water in play so you need to be aware of the hole layout before choosing your line to the green. Grass range was great for our warmup.
Service was forgettable. The guy in the pro shop was not the right personality to receive customers. Seems he’s only working for the free golf.
The rentals are okay, but not in the greatest condition for what you pay.. We had full Mavrik sets both left and right hand. Carts were not an issue for us as our tee time was at 8:30 am, but when we returned back to the club house after 18, there were at least a dozen people waiting for carts. Clearly the course needs to invest in another 20 carts to keep up with demand. Best if you can secure an early morning tee time to avoid delaying your round while you wait for a cart.
Tahquitz is probably one of the better value courses in the area but still far from cheap. The costs add up quickly if you’re a Canadian renting clubs and taking a cart. Club rental was $55 and the cart was $60. Green fees were $125 each for a Monday which seemed a little steep this early in the season. We were into it for $420 USD for two adult green fees. My son is a junior but we weren’t able to get the junior rate booking online (which is totally pointless). An expensive day, but at least it was sunny.
For comparison, we can play in low season at Nicklaus North in Whistler for $139 CDN (juniors are $55), $59 for a power cart and $69 for rentals and juniors are 60% off. Staff takes care of you when you arrive, the restaurant is fantastic with spectacular views.
Sadly, Palm Springs has become a golf destination for the rich unless you use a last-minute golf app and roll the dice once you arrive.
Disappointed
They no longer provide range balls or water on the carts. Starter seemed to not really be interested in our group.
