Municipal Course
The course has seen better days, but is still a good play for the price.
Makes for a nice golf outing
It was a fun day! Water on some holes to make it challenging.
Good course
Would love to play again. Fairways good, greens good (puts held there line).
great family course
Played with my 13 yr old son and had a great day. Course in great condition and not to hard for younger players
Still has long way to go
The golf course conditions continue to suffer from under funding by the county. Saint Johns County has some of the nicest parks and boat launching facilities in the state of Florida, but, apparently golf is not a high priority on the County's wish list. Conditions are no better now than they were 2 years ago when I last played there. In a word, it is just terrible. The greens need to be ripped up and re-sodded. I just don't see how they can be saved with chemicals alone. I'll give this course another try in two years if it is still around. It's such a shame that things have been highly neglected. I'm local and can tell you that 5 or 6 years ago, this was not the case.
flat and nothing special
nothing special, very flat course. pace of play a little slow and no rangers on course to speed things along. Greens in good shape though a little bumpy.
never again
as an avid golfer I was very disappointed in the conditions of the course. I could see that there is an attempt in getting the course better but the sand in the traps was overkill..when you step into a bunker and sink in the sand, you got no chance of getting it out with any control.. there was more sand in the bunkers than at the beach... the staff was very nice in welcoming me as a new golfer, but sorry, I wont be back...
worth the money
staff very friendly and helpful; course had a few rough spots but was good overall; slow play (4-1/2 hrs) but it was a busy Sunday afternoon
Would definitely play again--good value

Fair but and no manicure
At first view greens look so-so, but they were surprising fast and good.
Fairways and rough just Ok.
Rough around greens really uneven not good.
As a member told us, If we wish to play less than 4 1/2 do not play on weekend.
For a municipal golf it is Ok
Be aware there are 2 golfs courses "St. John"; we made the mistake :-)
Not the St. John's you think it is...
I'm sure that the St. John's with 3 courses in good condition exists...just about 20 miles from this course. I know that because my sky caddie said that the facility with three courses was about 10 miles away. This course was not in very good condition. They also let out a foursome of fathers followed up by 3 mothers driving carts with Jr golfers. The two groups played painfully slow...so much that the other guy I was paired up with decided to skip a hole to get past the junior group and then the father's would not let us play through. The course needs a ranger or to educate the players on the etiquette of golf as it relates to slow play. From the old metal posts sticking out of the ground near the tee boxes were, (presumably where benches used to reside), to the unpredictable greens, This place needs some attention.
Not A Bad Course but Slow Play
As a twosome we were paired up with a couple from Canada, very nice couple. The starting times were a bit backed up. The play through the course was a bit slow but the players behind us kept hitting into us. At one point, they almost hit one of us. There were no rangers on the course to manage the play.
The course was in decent condition and you could see that they have been working on it. It is a pretty good course to play and can be great fun with when your group has varying levels of golf abilities. If it wasn't for the slow play and the group behind us, it would have been a better round.
This course is fun to play with friends.
The weather was just perfect for golf after many days of rain. The course was pretty wet in many places but you were able to play around most of it.
I've played years ago and had fun on the course but it is 40 miles from home . Golf Now had a good price to play so i made the trip. I would recommend that people play the course and have a good time.
Course is getting better
The course is getting better than earlier this year but it still needs maintenance on the wetness issues. A couple of spinklers need work as they broken causing extra water on the courses. Drainage still needs improvement as there are many wet areas throughout the course. Greens were great. The pace of play was a little slow.
great value...but
need a starter to send players off 1st tee at timed intervals so pace of play would be better, marshal needed to keep groups in line w/o gaps...course will still make it's revenue...
move starter station closer to 1st tee...
Birthday birdies
Played on the wife's b-day and the staff was welcoming n gracious . Warmed up on the range n putting green b4 we teed it up. Lady's tees were fair and the wife enjoyed her round. I played the back tees and found the cousre a challenge. Just a tad soggy and played long but very playable.
Just a nice all around course.
I have played this course several times and it is still a nice all around course. The weather was good and I was able to pair up with a very nice gentleman.
Fun course to play at reasonable rates
Fairways were soft from weekend rain but the greens were in great shape. I know many golfers in this area are older in age but the slow pace of play can make the round of golf not that enjoyable. We played with a neat couple and even with the slow play we enjoyed our round of golf.
Playing by ourselves
Best conditions I have seen in the last 10 years .The greens were in great shape.
Course greens were in great shqape.
fairways were a little ragged and very muddy.A lot of place were torn up by carts and should have been repaired. Green were vert nice an in good condition
Good value
Booked thru Golf Now. Very pleasant experience. Friendly staff. Greens are true and well maintained.
