Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort
About
The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

Simply stunning! Photo submitted by ForeinSD on 05/09/2017
Beautiful
Stunning course and layout, I think $200 a little steep for desert golf but the place is really nice, great range and practice area, good pace of play, hard to complain. Food / restaurant excellent as well.
Pace of play was terrible - will never play again
We quit after 3-1/2 hours, having only played 13 holes. Waited on every single shot. Never saw a marshal. Bunkers were a mixture of rocks, good sand, and no sand. As we drove to the clubhouse there was not a gap in the players. Too many tee times scheduled for the course.
Saw a regular and asked him about the pace. He said it was always like this. The saving grace he said was that it was low cost compared to other venues.
Nice place
Great staff and nice course. The back 9 was more challenging than the front 9. Many tee box options depending you level of play. Good practice facilities. I wish the practice green was more representative of the greens on the course. The practice green was very hilly and undulating and not easy to find flat lies.
Really fun track
Conditions are great right now
Greens aren’t my favorite but they were pretty easy to get use to
Fairways 10/10
Bunkers soft even after rain
Great group we got paired with
Will be back to play the other 18 soon
Lush course with great Mountain View’s
My wife and I really enjoyed the Mountain course. We were paired up with 2 younger guys who were a pleasure to play with. The course was in mint condition. Greens slow but that’s understandable after overseeding. The views are awesome, especially on the front 9. Photos don’t do it justice. There was a frost delay in the morning so management knew pace of play would be slow. They proactively gave a discount at check in. Class act. We teed off at 1pm and had 4 holes left at 4:30. Fortunately the group ahead quit and we were able to quickly play the last 4 holes and finish a little after 5pm.
Mountain View Course
Course is in excellent condition. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Great course.
I played here because it was one of the only decent courses open. I learned that most courses in Palm Springs close for overseeding and rehab during the early to mid fall. The mountain course had just reopened after overseeding. The fairways and rough was great. The greens were a bit slow as I assume they are going easy on them for a while after the over seed. Pace of play was great. A foursome went around in 4:15. Lots of staff to help you. I stayed and played the Firecliff course after. Not as good as the Mountain IMO, and it was in worse condition as they are about to close it for overseeding. Replay rate was only $65 and again we played in about 4:15-30. I’ know there are better courses in Palm Springs but this is excellent for the money and doesn’t feel like a muni to me at all.
