The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

We played both courses and loved them both. Not sure there are better finishing holes anywhere! Firecliff 8 & 9 and 17 & 18 are spectacular! Will definitely be back!

Mtnview
What a great course , played firecliff last summer and finally was able to play mtnview and it didn’t disappoint. 2 pm tee time finished way before sunset for the price of $60 bucks can’t beat it weather was perfect that day low 80s with slight breeze
Desert Willow second option is beautiful
The mountain view course is much more friendly than firecliff for the average golfer, but still is meticulously maintained and beautiful desert course. It is unbelievable that this is a public course. A little easier than firecliff, but just as challenging as a desert course. Greens hold well, and roll true. This day they were a little slower than firecliff, but overall medium fast. Highly recommend this course.
Playing Mtn View
Course conditions were excellent especially considering the heat. Service was wonderful providing a great experience from beginning to end. The greens were hard and not allowing them to hold shots even with a high wedge. Also, many of the greens sloped away from you ie slope from front to back making the short game even more difficult. Overall a great experience and I would play there again without question.
Practice round
Came out with a couple buddies played the Mountain View course we have a tournament in May the course was excellent shape played course in four hours.
Great conditions with great views
Mountain View's greens are very challenging - very firm with ridges through most of them. The holes are interesting, and the views are fantastic. The entire facility is very well run.
