Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.
Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.
The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Course was in great shape and remains one of the nicest in the area. Prices have jumped dramatically in the last two years and it is about to be out of our price range.

High greens fee poor greens
The price I paid to play golf was extremely high considering the conditions of the grass around the greens and some of the greens themselves.
Until fixed I would not recommend this course. When paying high fees you expect a well keep course

Great Place!
Would definitely play again. Pace of play was a little slow, but most groups let us play through which was nice. Conditions were great, staff was awesome, and facilities were nice. Free range balls too. Greens were a touch slow, rolling maybe a 9. If the greens were faster, I would’ve given it a 10/10.

Around of harassment
It was an extremely windy day. From time to time, we had to wait for the group in front of us, but at no time was anyone waiting on us. Nonetheless, both the GPS screen and the marshal constantly harassed us for being behind pace. The wind was blowing 15-20 miles per hour all day. Nonetheless, we finished our round in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. Getting harassed under these conditions is ridiculous. I have played this course many times over the years, but I won't be back.

Very nice course
Played at 7:03, first group out so pace wasn’t a problem, really enjoyed the course layout. Greens and fairways very nice to play on. Was it worth $200 to play , not sure but all the courses in the area seemed pricey. I would play again and recommend.

Not worth the peice
The greens are spotty and the collars around the greens need work. Looks like a fungus has effected the grass and they are bare in spots. Course is not in the usual pristine shape that would dictate the cost. Hopefully they can get the course back in shape before too long.

Couple of hiccups
Course was is good shape overall, however we encountered a few issues. On multiple holes there were lawn crews repairing sod in front of the green. Even after asking them to move they refused to get out of the way or move their carts during our approach shots. Also, on multiple occasions the cart girls and grounds staff drove up on our group while on the tee box… it just seemed like they lacked basic etiquette. Additionally, we played a pretty quick pace (just over 4 hour round) and had a group on us most of the back nine and the ranger asked us to speed it up on the 18th hole… isn’t as enjoyable with people riding you half the time when you’re not even playing slow.

Match up
I was a single and told to play with a family that included a young kid learning the game. Was a little frustrated through the round and staff should take into consideration who they put together. It really detracted from the experience. Would have been better on my own and would have been happy to take the slow pace of play synonymous with vacation golf courses. Course layout was great though.

Not worth the money
The course is in very poor condition. Most of the greens have large bear areas. The fringe is either damaged or has weeds growing. This could be a nice course if it was maintained. The reviews listed have to be sent in by the course. Every green has damage traps weren’t raked. It is too bad Golf Now doesn’t verify reviews. Better courses around.
