Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.
Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.
The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Not worth the money
Overall the course was okay…The staff were fantastic. Very courteous and friendly. For the price I expected a very well maintained course. The course was in very poor conditions. The greens were the worst I’ve ever played on, I expected a very high quality maintained and groomed course for $189 per person. I’ve played on course 1/4 of the price that was better….would not recommend.

I don't play a lot of Florida Golf
So take this review with a grain of salt. I played during late March during so I paid 200 per person. I was told this is a premium course in the area along with 2 or 3 others. I am not sure if the growing season for grasses is just not in season but I expected the course to be in much better shape. There were several greens with bare areas either due to poor mowing or disease. The fringe areas around the green were non existent, bare dirt, in many places with the exception of large clumps of grasses thay wouldn't allow you to putt through them if you chose. I hate writing something like this but I would choose other options in the area if I had to do it over. The layout was nice visually. The team at the course was great from the moment we walked up until we left. The conditions were just worse than I'd expect from any muni course near my home at any point in the season.

Play from the right tees-tight
Tight fairways and need to be long and straight off tee as trouble left and right. Tough course for high handicaps. Good condition.

Eh! Just not worth the money
Course conditions were below average. Not worth the cost of the tee times. Some of the greens were sodded☹️☹️. Staff was very pleasant.

Annual Golf Trip
Myself and my 3 Highschool Friends take a trip to the coast every year and we play 4 different courses on 4 different days. Regatta Bay is our favorite and they are always very friendly and happy to have our business. The course is always in top shape and I highly recommend playing here if you get the chance. I'm 59 and a 4 handicap from the white tee's, as are all my friends. The course is difficult but fair from those tee boxes and just what we want for our rounds. Will definitely be back here again next year.

Not worth the Money
Paid our green fees, sat down for lunch and then an unexpected storm came through and wiped out the round. I totally understood that a rain check would be issued, unfortunately the following day was the start of spring break rates, bad break for us. My biggest issue is that the staff was adamant that we pay an extra cart fee X 2 and then they weren't going to credit that amount toward the round we played the next day even though we never set foot on the course the original date.

Well maintained and beautiful
I am not a regular golfer but my family wanted to play while on vacation and we searched and picked Regatta. It was very nice, in our opinion. Well maintained. We played 9 holes at the end of the day and it was a nice slow pace. A good experience.

I enjoyed the course and all the facilities. The food was good and the bartender on the morning I was there was very cordial. The only problem I had was on the driving range. There were 2 buckets with water in them and I dipped my towel in the water to clean my clubs when playing. The water stunk like dead fish and that smell followed me the entire round.
