Nice Course, good people
Overall, the day was enjoyable. I am new to golf, so always book as a single and like to play as a single. Most courses try to pair me with someone and I don't like to slow anybody down. This course worked with me and actually got me out earlier than my tee time, and as a single. Although I tend to play fast I promised to let anybody that caught up to me play through. I caught a couple of 4 somes that were slow, but this isn't a problem for me.
Tough but fair
The course was in pretty good shape for mid Feb. A few bunkers have been rehabbed, the rest are packed earth and rock. The greens were fast and true. Very good value and good pace of play. Two players finished in a little more than 3 hours.
Conditions improved
Overall, the fairways could use a bit more improving but the greens are in much better shape than the last time I played this course a year ago. They seem to be redesigned to add more severity to the slopes and they are in firm condition with a true roll. Improvements have definitely been made to the course.
Great Greens
This course has fast greens, even at 8 in the morning. Most fairways are is good shape but some have casual water due to the seepage from the Napa River near by.
The course is fair. Not much difference from whites or blues in distance. Tee boxes in good shape generally.
Not much OB, but lots of water.
Surprisingly we played 18 holes on a Saturday in 3.5 hours.
This course has a great layout.
The course has drainage issues in the winter, especially in the fairways and bunkers.
Very Fast Greens today.
Very nice round on a Sunny Day in January, "with NO WIND" at Napa Golf Course. The value, at $21 per player was/is fantastic!
Greens were REALLY Tough yesterday!
Good value for the money, needs some attention.
The course was very muddy in spots and drainage needs
help, but overall generally good and walkable. The greens
were in good condition, good views, with lots of wildlife.
Staff was friendly, and I was able to get out about 20
minutes before my scheduled tee time.
Great test of your overall game.
This course is a gem. Lots of challenge for sure. Some visually scary Tee shots and some easy ones that play hard if you miss your target. Water everywhere. Mounded greens put a premium on approach shots. The greens overall were smooth, fast and consistent from green to green. Lack of rain has hardened them up a bit. Can be a real pain if the wind kicks up but it was calm, sunny and warm for us late Feb. Tough to get yardages so bring your GPS device of choice. I would like to see simple 150 yard markers on every hole. This gives a reference point for recovery shots and speeds up play. And what's up with #9? You'd think that they'd figure out the drainage problem by now. Raise the fairway if you don't know how to use french drains to tame a spring. The 19th hole plays soild...
Fair condition would play again
Greens were in excelent shape were as the fairway and bunkers were bad
Challenging course, definitely not for beginners
Very challenging course with narrow fairways and hazards everywhere. You need to know your club distances because there is a lot of laying up. It is very unforgiving, so beginners beware and stock up on balls should you decide to play. We found a steal of a price on golfnow.com so we wanted to give it a shot. I won't be back until my game is more controlled. But for the price though, no complaints.
Several of the course Yardage markers were not acurate/missing.
The course was is OK shape, the greens were being sanded that day....always frustrating
course has nice contour and is serene
good course with interesting holes and nice weather.
Nice day of golf!!
We enjoyed the course and the challanges of some of the holes.
Best value in town, but needs attention
The greens are kept up fairly well, but the fairways are spotty, the fringe is in poor condition and the sand traps are atrocious! This used to be a jewel and has been going steadily downhill in the past few years.
Course has a lot of water. Bring lots of balls.
Good value for the price. The course lawns need work but we enjoy the challenge of the course and the people we were grouped with.
Could be a beautiful, challenging course if maintained.
This was probably once a beautiful course but has fallen into disrepair. Challenging holes, water hazards on maybe 12-14 holes. But currently, the fairways are dry and bare in many places, tee boxes rough, bunkers have about 1/2 inch of sand, lots of "ground under repair" but it looks like no one is working on it.
The greens were in moderately good shape, however, and the off peak price of $29 makes it still worth playing.
Good midweek deal
We enjoy playing the course and are generally able to tee off immediately. Only downside is that recently when our threesome tees off it is immediately followed by several singles or twosomes and it takes a while to sort it all out and let them through. Nonetheless, we always have a good time here.
Hit the greens or pay the price.
Due to the design of the course and the surrounding flood plain, most all of the greens are built up and require an accurate approach shot that holds the surface of the putting area. Any misdirected shots tend to ricochet off at an acute angle and require a multitude of lobs, pitches or bump and run shots that test your short game. My handicap was at its lowest when I played this course over 40 times in one year. Accuracy over distance, greens in regulation over anything else will reward you with a low score.
good value
course is well maintained. fairways and greens in excellent condition. always play in less than 4 hours.
