Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Not like it used to
The course conditions have gotten worse this year, several areas where it appears the sprinkler system are broken, the tee boxes used to be very good, now a lot of them are in poor condition.
Not worth the greens fee.
I have played this course multiple times, so I was looking forward to playing this past weekend. For the $ I paid to play there, you'd think they would be able to keep the course in good condition.
The round took five hours to complete. There wasn’t a starter or on-course marshall which may have improved the pace of play. The bunkers were unplayable. They were like concrete, or filled with standing water. The tee boxes were also in poor condition, and there were several fairways that had dead spots.
The greens are the only part of the course that seems to be maintained.
I won't be coming back here.
Neglected
I've been playing this course for 35 years. Back then Chardonnay was the fanciest course in the North Bay. But with inflation, it's obvious they don't have the revenue to maintain the course, which is the case for most of the courses in California. Golfers will not pay $100 per round, so we're stuck paying $60 per round, for poor tee boxes, unplayable bunkers, and barren fairways, squishy sink holes from broken irrigation. I blame SACRAMENTO!
Too slow pace
The recommended pace is 4 hours 40 minutes, but there was no staff to control the pace. The first half was finished in 3 hours, and the second half was finished in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
LIving on the reputation of the Past-Nearly a six hour round
Chardonnay under the new CourseCo management has fallen out of my rotation. I had a choice where to play and I choose wrong.
Lets start with the no's on the course
No marshall to help with the pace of play
No garbage cans
One Water filling station and it was empty
Dead grass on the tee boxes
And the bunkers are the worst in the Bay Area including Glen Eagles and probably courses that have been closed, but I've know that since the pandemic and play anyways.
No more... done.
Seems to have gone downhill
No buckets for balls at range,I walked over and picked up a bunch and brought back to the ball machine. Then the balls were filthy and half were so old and beat up that they were unusable. The course has seen better days and the greens were patchy with something that looks like they had fought off a fungus. The pace of pay was ridiculously slow. 5.5 hours waiting at every hole and every shot.
Nice course with really bad bunker condition
Green and Fairway are good. Bunkers are in really bad shape, no sands.
Great day
Weather was fabulous Pace of play the best
Friendly staff
Introduced some new friends and they were amazed at the quality and pricing
Chardonnay
Course was in great shape and the weather couldn't have been better. Had a little wind to add a little more thought to the course management aspect of the game.
Don’t play on Wed
Senior day is Wed. Tee’d off at 3:24 and finished after 8pm.
No cart person
No Marshall
No starter.
Decent course but needs work
I was a bit disappointed when playing here. Yes it is for the most part green and in decent shape. Still had brown spots which is expected for summer time. However not as nice as I remember. Very disappointed with there bunkers. They put no effort in keeping them nice & if they did would be a top course in the area. Bunkers were just clay with no sand and half of them had puddles of water in them. Which they would put some more effort into keeping the bunkers real and playable.
Sand Traps
Last played there over a year ago and the traps were in bad shape. This time even worse. Sad, it's one of my favorite courses in the wine country.
A joy to play again!
As a long time player at Chardonnay Golf Club I have seen ups and downs in the facility. There were many poor reviews in early summer, and rightfully so. The course was very dry and tee boxes dead (should be noted this was due to major irrigation system repairs needed due to the age of the infrastructure).
Management has corrected many of these issues and the course is playing much better again. Tees, fairways and greens are much better and a joy to play (bunkers are still poor).
I have very much enjoyed my rounds at Chardonnay Golf Club over the last couple of weeks and look forward to the continued improvement.
Nice day for golf in the wine country
This course and Eagle Vines are our 2 favorite courses in Napa area. We knew the pace of play would be slow. We had to waited at every hole starting with #1. We ended the round in 5 hours, so, it was not bad, especially such a nice day. However, the group behind of us hit into us twice, once we were on the green and without apology. One of the players works for Golf Moose, so, etiquette should not be an issue.
Golf Moose so bad.
Very dissatisfied
I was very shocked of the course conditions. It was the driest I’ve ever seen. Needs a lot of water
