About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

We do like this course
Hidden Hills is a good course. We didn't shoot good numbers which reflects some poor shots and difficult holes. Front nine has more water. Back nine has a gator in one of the water holes and some long holes. Tee boxes could be greener and some of the greens have damage that hopefully is been addressed but all in all an enjoyable course, friendly staff and collegial members

Course needs water!
The course played fair. There was alot of fairways that had bare spots. I know that Jacksonville hasn’t had much rain but the fairways are suffering..
There were 3 foursomes ahead of us. The one directly in front of us putted one guy at a time and the next guy wouldn’t approach his ball to put until the last guy left the putting surface.. Annoying and inconsiderate!.

A great layout
My wife and I played a round teeing off at 138pm. The guy behind the counter was a little gruff, but helpful and answered all our questions promptly. There is a nice driving range and putting area for warm ups. The course was in great shape. No burn on the greens, green and plush fairways and a great pace of play for a Sunday afternoon. 5 stars. An excellent value for the money!

Challenging course
Great layout, a lot of the greens are guarded but it’s fun as long as the course is dry

Ghost Town
We were pleasantly surprised the course was not crowded. The staff allowed us tee off 30 minutes ahead of our scheduled tee time which allowed us to beat the rain. The course is in good shape shape with the exception of hole #9, which had a temporary green but the staff was actively working to get it repaired.

No course management
We are stacked up 4 or 5 groups deep. No one to manage the course. We actually had a man come and put his ball on the tee box while we were waiting to tee off. Very rude. Guess they are known on the course. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful course. They need a ranger.

Getting better
Stopped playing there last March. Was in rough shape carts were crap. Well new carts nice. Course is in great shape and seems to be getting better. 2nd time playing this month.

Sand traps
The sand traps should actually be called dirt traps. My only complaint. The course was in great shape.

Gone to crap/slow play
Very slow play, only got through 6 holes and had to leave, would have been out there for 7 hours at least. Do better Hidden Hills. Course was in terrible shape too.
