Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course
About
Arthur Hills designed the Padre Course at Camelback Golf Club to deliver a fun round that's tough to forget. Trees tower, landforms show subtly, and bunkers improve your golf skills. The par-72 golf course measures 6,903 yards, and has gained its renown by offering a design that requires strategy.
A round of golf on the Padre Course at the Camelback Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 446 yards from the black tees. Things get long on the fifth hole, a par 5 that comes in at 553 yards from the black tees, one of four 500-plus-yard holes. The 18th hole is one of these: It's 547 yards from the black tee to the post-round celebration.
After your round on the Padre Course at Camelback Golf Club, head to the Golf Grill, serving U.S. cuisine and a fancy Sunday brunch in the style of Southwestern country clubs. There's also a luxury lounge where you can spend winters on the patio by the fireplace.

Not impressed
I booked this course through Golf Now "Hot Deal" I also used $30 in rewards I earned from Golf Now. Granted, it was an awesome deal, but when we drove to our ball on the first hole, the cart would not go on the course. It was then and only then that we found out that it was "cart path only".. It was NOT stated on Golf Now and the Pro Shop did not inform us. The reason I gave Camelback a poor review is because, they should have first informed Golf Now (which they didn't) and they did not inform us. It was totally their responsibility to inform SOMEONE!!!!! I called Golf Now, and they said their is no compensation for reserving a course with a "Cart Path Only enforcement. I stated that I walked the course because I DID. I would rather have had a hand cart.
Also, the greens had just been sanded, so the putting was ridiculous. I believe it is the responsibility of both the course AND Golf Now to inform ANYONE making a reservation to advise them of their "Cart Path Only" and sandy greens.
So, beware next time you reserve a tee time.
Nice afternoon of golf
Marriott Camelback is a very nice golf facility. they have a very nice driving range and practice facility. could have used a little more overseeding this year. overall a very nice golf course with a good place of play and nice staff
Way over-valued
Was a typical park course in the middle of the desert. Zero elevation change and minimal challenge. Even at the golfnow price of $99 (a considerable deal compared to the asking $179), this is over-valued compared to nearby climatic desert courses. Spent $40 less the next day elsewhere and played a remarkable, and rememberable, desert course.
Mid week round.
Course was cart path only, so play was slower than should've been. Greens had just been top dressed with sand, so putting and chipping were difficult to figure out and were disappointed. Playing partner quit after 9 holes because he wasn't happy with course conditions. Said if he had known he wouldn't have booked a tee time.
Great value for the money
Loved the course, even though we were dealing with the overseeding...
Pro Shop dropped the ball
When I paid for the tee time with Golf Now, there was no indication it was cart paths only. When I got to the course, the pro shop did not tell me this either. There was no starter at the first tee to tell me this. When I drove my cart onto the Fairway, it stopped running (programmed to stop if one leaves the cart path). What a surprise.. Had to walk most of the course, which is not what I paid for. Need better communication between golf now and the pro shop.
Nice course, great employees
From start to finish the course provided a most pleasurable experience. The staff was wonderful, the course was in good condition and the day was perfect!
Excellent Value -- great staff
Very well organized staff, and excellent course conditions. We were a two ball and it seemed a bit slow, but greens rolled true and overseeded grass nice and green.
A good experienc
I have played Padre many times... toonk my grandson for a rpund. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant as usual. We played with a very nice local couple. Despite the cart path only rules we had a great round... the course is in beautiful shape. It is a very playable course for all golfers.
Nice track
NIce track what you see is what you get... use course management and you will enjoy the round
they said 10 on stimp meter exagerrated maybe 9 but greens held their line
Would play again
Great deal on Golf Now for this course!
We played a “hot deal” tee time, so value was great that day! Very friendly staff. Nice course overall, but I personally wouldn’t want to pay full price here. Not as pretty as some other desert courses in town (was end of season and the conditions were decent considering the summer just passed).
Nasty Staff, Slow Pace of Play
What a sad Friday at Camelback Golf Club. Perfect weather, some spare time and a chance to get out for 18. Sadly, if this course was half as good as the staff believes it to be, it would be Augusta. Couple that arrogance with shoddy service, patchy fairways and glacial pace of play and you have a course you shouldn't play -- ever.
I've played here perhaps 10 times in the past year ... typically on sister course Ambiente, where the layout and course conditions make up for the indifferent customer service. Never again, at least where Padre is concerned.
You know the old saying - fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 10 times and there are too many better golf courses in Arizona to spend a hundred bucks on this place.
Great course design
Arthur Hill got this design right. The course is right in front of you and you have to make good shots to score well. The course was in good condition and the greens rolled well. This is a country club style course with wall-to-wall grass. Trees can come into play. I played this for around $50 and it was well worth the price. I would play it again.
Great course for the amateur
Course was in great shape for summer conditions. Wide fairways for those errant drives. The bunkers and water came into play on a few holes but utilizing the gps prevented sandy and wet balls. Definitely will play again but only on the summer rates due to my fixed income.
