Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course
About
John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.
Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.
While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

Golfer Reviews
Slow Play
Tee time was 2:00. Won’t even make the turn due to slow play. Waiting 2 groups deep on the front 9.
Nice track
Try to play Founders a few times each winter. Course is always in good shape. Reading the greens can be challenging, but getting better as I play the course more.
Bring your own drinks!
Golfed here a couple of months ago, had a good time and did very well. Driving range is large enough to accommodate a lot of people. putting and chipping greens were well kept up. My issue was, there were no refreshment cart, the pro shop was out of drinks. So we had to pay a lot extra for a cup of soda, or water from the restaurant.
So, yeh service wasn't the best. But did I say I played good that day?
I thought the course was in decent shape, it was wet. Greens were good, and overall the course played good. Groups were spaced out pretty good, and it didn't take that long to complete the round.
Want to come back again, I like their sister course more. But did I say I had a great day playing?
One of the best
Once you play this course you’ll want to come back. One of the best in the tri state area. It’s always in great condition and a super fun course to play
Best course I’ve played
This Is simply one of the best courses I’ve ever played. I am lucky enough to travel frequently and as a result of play many golf courses in many states this one ranks near the top. Beautiful greens,, and tee boxes surrounded by the desert mountains and elevation. I would highly recommend to anyone living in our visiting the Phoenix area.
A course in great condition
The course is in great conditions. Never a bad lie anywhere, sand traps fair and well raked and even paced greens that were true and flat. You can’t ask for more
Verrado the Founders
WE are member at Verrado which have 2 golf courses in excellent shape with beautiful views
