Great mountain golf

For the time of the year, I don't think the course could have been in better shape. Loved the elevation changes and views. Really enjoyed the day.

winter golf

Everything was good if you want to play cart path only. I don't control drives enough to make it fun. All winter is this way. Would not have played had I known that. Too much up and down.

It is cart path only due to the type of grass. It is best to stay on the path, so in the summer it can be in peak shape.

Excellent fun, great value

Golf course is in excellent shape. Played as a twosome, first time on the course. Got a great deal on golfnow. A lot of elevation change. If you struggle with awkward lies and uphill/downhill shots, this will be a tough course. Course played difficult, but very fair. Will certainly play again.

Gatlinburg Fall 2015

Love this course. We play it every time we visit the area. Played it twice, once was a little crowded because it was such a beautiful Fall day.

Nice mix of holes, back nine more interesting

I booked as a single on short notice and was paired up with three beginners. This is a nice old-style parkland course set in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. With the exception of #1, 5, and 9, I found the front nine a little bland, being generally flat and wide open with very short rough. Tee boxes and fairways were shaggy, but the greens were excellent - smooth and very fast but held well.
The back nine was much more interesting, with tighter tree lined fairways and some wild elevation changes, most notably the par three 12th which drops over 150 feet from tee to green. A GPS is handy to get yardages to lay up areas on some holes (10, 13, 15), especially for longer hitters who will likely keep driver in the bag. Overall I enjoyed the course, the weather was great, and the price was right!

Where's a ranger when you need one?

Very slow and never saw a ranger. Everything thing else was pretty average for a mountains course except the greens, which were in great shape. Overall, I'd play it again if I were in town but wouldn't drive more than a half hour.

Can't wait to play it again

I enjoyed playing the course. The scenery and conditions were A - 1. I asked the 2 gentlemen from Florida I was paired up with what they thought and they really liked it also. The greens were a tad slow for me but they weren't horribly slow. I will play there on my next trip to gatlinburg.

Mountain Course with Great Views

I always love playing Gatlinburg Golf Course when visiting the Smoky Mountain area. It is a course that is good for various skill levels and is in good shape each time I play there. There are a couple of holes that are more challenging to score well on, but that adds to the experience. I would highly recommend to anyone to check out this course on a visit to the area.

Next door to Dollywood

Back 9 is more interesting. Got off to a very late start (over 30 min. past our tee-time, since they were letting some groups go off who had started on #10 & were making the turn.) That was annoying, but when we got to #10, there was no longer anyone directly in front of us.

Interesting course

The bad: cart girl was not great...saw her at #1, 9 and 18. Was not a busy day.
They had these little nats that would not leave you only mist of time.
A lot of cart path only holes. Some of the cart path only par 4s unnecessary.

The good: interesting round with all the elevation changes especially par 3 on back. 186 yards down hill and hit a 150 club pin high into a slight head wind.
Greens were in good shape.

First time

Nice course for the money. Very scenic course, would love to play it in the fall.
The par 5's "easy" on the other hand tough par 3'. Par 4's average.
There were a couple hole the fairway's were thin.
Over all I would recommend this course to be put on your list to play.

Challenging but fun!

Really enjoyed playing this course. Very challenging due to all the elevation changes. Beautiful views. Course is in very good condition. The only complaint we had is the gnats....they were awful. Hard to concentrate when there are gnats flying all around your head.

Beautiful and fun course

But schedule 6 hours to play. The course was FULL of fivesomes from out of town. Five people that do not know the course take a LONG time to play. We were fortunate enough to play thru three groups. It took us 4 hr and 45 minutes. The first group that let us through was on #14 when we finished. Would love to play course again as it was fun and spectacular, but probably won't unless we can get first tee time in am.
