Slow, but fun course
Even with a 7:50 am tee time, the course was packed. Fortunately, the Marshall allowed me to start on the back 9, and there was no one there.
Fairways could use some love. But generally a fun layout, which is not a given in many FL courses.
I would play it again.
Waste of time
The staff were friendly. The course is not being maintained. The rough is over taking the greens. The rough is uncut, resulting in lost balls 5 yards off the fairway. Out of 18 tee boxes, one was okay. Played at 0902hrs on a Sunday morning. Play was backed up on every hole. 5.5 hour round. Show up to a tee box and find one group on the box, one in the fairway and one on the green. !5-20 min wait. Ranger came through once . He smiled and said there was nothing he could do. After round, found out three groups ahead were two groups of five players. I was told by player from three groups ahead that the 5-somes were fishing for balls in every pond and taking at least 20 minutes on every green. He told the Ranger who did nothing. My group of 12 had 3 tee times and we play fast. Anyone in our group starts screwing around the rest of us get on him quick and fix it. We will not be back and will spread the word of our experience. Don'twaste your time or money at Northdale.
Just bad
Rough made the round unbearable. Don’t hit the fairway? Good luck finding your ball. Have to search minimum of 3-5 minutes to find your ball every shot.
Took over 5 hours to play the round with best ball scramble. Sad!
First Time
For the GOLFNOW price this was a nice course. Yet, I would wait until better maintenance of the fairways and rough takes place. I understand FL rain can make mowing a challenge but after playing over 100 courses in central FL Northdale has not met the challenge.
Sad to see
The course is in the worst shape it’s ever been in the last 2 decades. They’re not even trying at this point. I used to play here religiously but to see what it’s become since new management took over is down right embarrassing.
Don’t pay $40 or even $30. It should be a $19 round until they can operate a mower, and the greens which have been airated for some 3mos now return.
And yes, we’ve had rain, but so has every course in Tampa. This tracks just an exceedingly awful 5hours of a way to spend your life now.
Rough
rough was so high could not find the fairway. green recently punched and very slow. Will be better after week with no rain
Typically Excellent
I can explain my complaints, but first I will say this is typically one of the best value courses in the area. Generally the greens are exceptional at this price point and the course has a fun layout.
Cons, it has been raining a ton, and I think the course doesn't drain well. So, it was a swamp today. Also, they recently punched the greens which you have to accept as a common practice. However, I think the course should have provided better discounted rated given the condition of the greens. Also, the rough was a mess, but that may have been due to the rain, and no chance to mow.
All in all, I am still a fan of the course as it is usually a great value. I would just check recent reviews on course conditions. .
Course In VERY BAD shape
The roughs are severely overgrown. Seems as if not much maintenance has been put into the course. The cart paths have pot holes bigger than the ones I’ve seen in the worst alleys of Tampa. It could be a very beautiful course if they’d just put some TLC into it. The greens rolled nicely and were the highlight of the course. Fairways were decent, but the overgrown grass literally EVERYWHERE else really deteriorated the overall experience. I’d definitely try it again after they mowed and did some repairs, until then I’ll stay away.
Play Somewhere Else
The rough was ridiculously high. Granted there has been some light rain in recent days but not enough to justify the height of the rough. You could be standing over your ball and not see it. Also, the cart paths need to be fixed badly.
Course
The corse had such high grass in the rough that we had a had time finding our balls. Didn’t know the bathroom code and almost got locked inside. No toilet paper in the ladies bathroom. Some of the cart paths we in very poor condition. I’ve played there a lot over the years and this was the worst for the price
