Surprisingly rewarding Course!
Had a great time playing here- the course was in great condition, greens were slow, but coming along fine from punching a couple weeks ago. One temporary green on par 5 #1. Pace of play was outstanding! We finished our round in 3.5 hours. I really enjoyed the course, I will be back again!
This course has come from nothing 40 years ago to something very different today and it took every employee to make it happen so I commend all Northdale crew for a wonderful day of golf on a great course
Northdale
Northdale has come a long way in the past year. Tee boxes and fairways were once a cow pasture but now have been repaired and playable. The greens were recently airated but all appeared to be in good condition. A weekday morning round took less than 3 1/2 hrs to play.
Good Challenge
Course was in good shape except for the first green.
Some kind of blight rendered it unplayable.
Fortunately all of the other greens were fine.
Fairways in pretty good condition.
Better Than in Years Past
The first green is completely lost, and seemingly happened over the last few weeks.
Outside of that... the course is in decent shape. A few dead spots on edges of other greens. And they're a little slow. But fairways have grass, which has not always been the case at Northdale.
Bunkers are atrocious, and mostly washed out from recent rain.
Overall, the value is decent. But Northdale suffers from the same problems as most courses in the Tampa area. They need to:
- Expand the greens to original sizes
- Trim and remove a bunch of oak trees that have overgrown and are killing surrounding grass and tee boxes
- Remove bunkers that aren't being kept up, which will save money in the long-run
- Charge more money and space tee times out. Seven minute intervals is a joke
Anyway... check it out while it's still decent.
A SURPRISE
My foursome used to play Northdale once a week but when conditions deteriorated to the point of grass growing in the greenside bunkers & rough so deep no one could find a ball, we left. It's two years later & what a change for the better. Greens are quick & true, bunkers are groomed (no grass) & have decent grass. Northdale is coming back!
Keeps getting better
Nicest I've ever seen this course over many years.
Greens a bit slow for my liking, but still great shape except #1. Seems to be in a tough area to maintain.
Overall, course is great!!
Good shape
Overall the courses in really good shape and it's a good value. I also like the layout
A BIG SURPRISE
Yes, playing at Northdale on the 10th of May was a big surprise, a positive surprise. Until 3 to 4 years ago my foursome played Northdale every Sunday morning. But former ownership or management let the course deteriorate to the point that grass was growing in the greenside bunkers and rough was not being mowed. I had heard rumors the course had improved and I found that to be the case big-time last Friday. Fairways were lush & the rough was penal but if you ended up in the rough you could at least find your ball & advance it forward.
