Space Coast Golf Club
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Golfer Reviews
great visual experience for florida
Greens coming back nicely. Still lots of fairway bare patches which seem to never be addressed for years. Cart paths still back-breaking in many areas. Ball-washers without water or missing, & poorly adjusted hole-locater pennants on flagpoles. But good carts , & friendly staff with no hassles. No 'drink-cart girl' which is fine by me. Some of the bunkers have had zero maintenance for ages which is a real drag when you end up in one. But overall quite good condition, picturesque, & good value this time of year if you can handle the heat. Most shortcomings could be easily remedied, except cart-paths.
It will be nicer when the bar reopens (in the fall?).
Side benefit are sights of real Florida wildlife up close,- birds, gators, & even a bob-cat the other day.
Must Play
Course in good shape, fast greens, not busy, great staff.......
Enjoyed my round
All members of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you all!
So the course... The course was in very good shape. Tee boxes, fairways and the greens. All were in as good or better shape than any course I've played this year. I play mostly in the Savannah/Hilton Head area.
Next time I play here I'll leave the driver in the bag. Maybe two holes will you ever need it, especially if you don't routinely hit it down the middle. Tight course with lots of water opportunities. More about placement.
I enjoyed my round and felt the course was very fair for the weekend hacker. I'll play again on my next trip down.
Savannahs
Course makes you hit your irons well. Greens recently punched and still lumpy. When finished they should be good.
Bad
Ok so first of all.. I originally had a tee time for 48 bucks a player .. I looked a few days later and saw the same time for 20.. So I canceled then re-booked.. Thank god I did because if I paid 48 bucks for the way the course conditions were I would have been more upset. Bad bad and bad!!! Bare patches all over the fairways.. Long weeds... I actually felt bad for the people that lived on the course having to look out their windows at it ... The positives .. Wildlife... Lots of gators... We played here on the day our cruise ship docked in port canaveral . I wish we would have played somewhere else... Very disappointed
Savannahs at Merritt Island
The Savannah's golf course offers a challenging layout which requires accuracy off the tee.
The greens were rolling average, a little bumpy, and still need attention from the staff. Pro shop employee was nice and mentioned the greens were aerated two weeks ago (05/14/16). As of the 28th they still weren't all the way back.
The fairways on the other hand are hardly playable. This has been a common theme with the fairways at The Savannah's lately and not much has changed. They are still well below average.
Not much to eat or drink, never saw a cart girl, and the bar/restaurant is closed for renovations.
Overall the experience was ok, a scenic course, with average to below average course conditions, the value was not too bad.
Abundant Wildlife, Beautiful Scenery
The mature course is very well maintained. Lots of trees line the cart paths, giving a break from the sun when needed. Abundant wildlife and the scent of gardanias throughout, every hole has unique features. The T box, greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Lots of water in play - so keep it straight.
lots of natural florida
See some very native creatures of florida, gators, snakes all kind of birds
Great round on a beautiful course.
New management was great. The tee boxes were good, fairways narrow and greens fast. Look out for alligators! Wanted to enjoy a cold beverage at the turn, but choices are limited. Don't miss trying out this beauty!
Challenging Course Nice greens
New management company in early stages of changing the environment. I plyed late so I didn't see if the watering hole was open. The course is challenging for most of us inconsistent players but fair. Greens were true and rolled well.
Golf now helped with the price!
Great value with Hot Deal and Golf Now rewards
Greens in excellent shape, tee boxes pretty good too. Some fairways a bit rough. Plenty of water on front nine, not so much on back. Worth the ride and the Golf Now discount.
Nice Track
The course is in decent shape. Some problems in a few fairways, but the greens were a little slow but consistent. There's quite a bit of water, and a few of the fairways are tight. Not overly long. Nice course in good shape, at a fair price.
All in all, good to great value for the money!
Great course with some need of offering hole direction signs
Nice course in good maintenance condition. A little confused on the routeing of holes as the signage was inadequate directionally. Quicker play in the p m hours than a m times. overall I would play this one again.
Great Course
For the money this was an excellent course! Played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours! Staff was friendly and very accommodating! If you enjoy jumping fish this is by far the best course for you! The fish actually come out of the water to pose! There is lots of water hazards so if you then not to be straight brings lots of balls!
Watch out if playing the back tees…
I have played it several times in the past and this was (probably) the first time with no front wind on the No. 7 – there is a lake needing a shot around 190 yards carry … The course looks not long from the tips, but this hole may create problems (on a windy day). Together with the No. 13 – a long par 3 (around 220 yards) these two holes can damage your score. The course itself is in good condition. There are some bold spots on several fairways, but not in play if staying straight. Due to the rainy weather in the last days some places the fairways were still wet. Bunkers had not always enough sand, but were still good playable. Greens are OK, mediocre speed. Super pace - we played as a twosome in 3.5 hours. Not a lot of service from the staff, but on such a low price course, it does not matter.
Overall – a fun course to play from the back tees…
poorly maintained / overpriced
The course is generally under mowed / Trimmed. The fairways are in several areas are either mud or bog like. greens poorly maintained. The staff was the only saving grace here, they were professional, energetic and engaging.
blind shots
I was lucky to be paired with 3 gentlemen that had played the course before. Many blind shots and lots of water. Nice layout. Front 9 is shot makers and back 9 is a little more wide open.
Course is always wet.
Water
Water on every hole....excellent course.
Savannahs
The course is in very good condition. Play pace was excellent, and accommodations were very good. They have new carts, and the greens are fast.
Highly recommended.
