Riverwalk Golf Club
About
A collaborative effort by Ted Robinson Sr. and his son has resulted in a most scenic championship layout. The championship 18 meanders through mature eucalyptus trees, tall palms, and majestic oaks. Sparkling ponds contrast with the dozens of white sand bunkers and the emerald green, Bermuda grass fairways.

9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012
Slow Round
The course had a tournament scheduled on a Sunday mid-day. This ruined the round. We ended up stopping with 4 holes to play. Otherwise course was in great condition.
Course could be one of the better ones in SD
First, I realize that many courses in San Diego are having financial problems and/or have closed, but there is absolutely no excuse for having greens that are like a fairway. At least, if you are having problems, the course owes the player a disclaimer prior to playing the course. Their greens were so slow, that they were essentially unplayable. Had I been advised prior to tee off what the problem was and the purpose of this issue, then I would have reduced my expectations of the round, but there was no information provided. Why should it be incumbent on the patron to find out after paying fees that we are not getting the product that we paid for. Totally unacceptable and a ripoff. And on top of that there is no recourse with Golfnow. I rarely use this site anymore, so another strike against them.
the old girl is not what she use to be...
played as a single on 10/8/2018 in the afternoon...have not been there for at least 6 months,I knew that the friars course had been let go to keep mission/presido in good shape..or at least I thought that was the idea.Alot of the times the putting green is not a good repersentantion of the actual greens but this time it was..very slow/furry(needed a cut) and full of bare spots/different grasses growing in.The fairways had alot of bare and thin areas and to be fair Presido was in better shape than mission..for the money I paid 35.00 could have gone to cottonwood for better conditions of the course though the clubhouse and carts and driving range are far superior but if good golf conditions are what you are looking for ...I would look elsewhere at this time...it is a shame because there was a time when riverwalk was high on a players list.
PLEASE YELL FORE!!!
We had a nice time playing the course. A little slow, the group ahead of us was playing the blue tees when they should have been playing the white. Almost got hit by a ball when we did not hear FORE.
Friars should be closed
I have heard many rumors that Friars will soon be closed. The time is now. I have never seenFriars in good condition but it is not playable at this point. Close it down and focus on presidio and mission. Both great 9s but could also use some love.
Greens in good shape.
Five hours, 20 minute round. No marshals. Weekend extremely busy. Recommend weekday play only.
Great Layout!
This course has a wonderful layout , we played Presidio and Mission. The only negative thing I could say was the amount of fairways that has ground under repair.
The greens could use a little attention as well.
Our round wasn’t the slowest round I’ve ever played but it seemed like we could’ve finished in 4 hours instead of 4 :45,
Got on friars around 1130am. I guess they let groups of 6 play together so had to wait a few holes until they waved me through. Conditions were not ideal but that's expected on friars which is the worst of the 3 9 hole courses. Many fairways are roped off which is annoying but understandable if the grass is growing back. I get to the green on the 8th hole and the maintenance crew decided to turn on the sprinklers on the 9th hole right in front of me. I tried to wave the guy down but he ignored me and made me wait about 5-10 min until he turned it off. Pulled up to a soaked tee box to play my last hole. The fairway was soaked too which ruined the hole for me. Terrible experience
Poor course conditions on Friars
The Friars course was in poor shape. Muddy wet spots everywhere despite lack of recent rain. Many areas roped off down middle of fairways. Greens were really beat up and sloppy.
over booked
Course could have been a fun course to play. Interesting layout but WAY over booked. Had two and sometimes three groups on EVERY tee box. 15+ min wait between EVERY hole. Ridiculous number of people on the course but not one marshall to be found. I will not play here again, too many other great choices in San Diego.
Too Watered Down
There were many areas that were muddy and it was not from any rain. In fact they were using the sprinklers when the course was already wet. Also there were many fairways that were blocked off because of the muddy conditions.
Poor fairways
Most fairways were under repairs. Took fun out of a good drive. I have not seen that many ground under repairs before.
They seriously need to close one of the 9 holes down to get the grass time to grow.
Pleasant course!
The course layout was very fun with plenty of water holes. Nice views and a course in the middle of a bustling city that offers an escape engulfed in the game of golf on a very lush course.
First Time
They are doing a lot of work on the fairways, much needed work. Still an ok experience.
