Riverwalk Golf Club
About
A collaborative effort by Ted Robinson Sr. and his son has resulted in a most scenic championship layout. The championship 18 meanders through mature eucalyptus trees, tall palms, and majestic oaks. Sparkling ponds contrast with the dozens of white sand bunkers and the emerald green, Bermuda grass fairways.

9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012
Everyone loves a come back
In the last year or so the conditions at Riverwalk Were so poor that I wouldn’t play there for free and the reason for this is because the property has been sold and they are going to build a community on it so they decided why invest money in maintenance. The greens and the tee boxes were always good but the fairways were horrible more dirt than grass. There’s been a reprieve from the construction due to the locals fighting it and I know that because I live in the condos over looking the course. So it seems like they are rushing to make it playable again specifically the Friars course which is facing the street. The other two are in decent shape especially Presidio the more picturesque of the three ,fountains and everything. Hopefully the resurgence will continue because it’s a beautiful place to play and was once the Premier spot To play in San Diego. See you there
Macspac
Good layout with challenging hazards. Fairways were in questionable/rough shape but the greens and traps were great...if you can refer to any trap as great.
Unbelievably sad
As a San Diego native i feel horrible what has happened to Riverwalk. The course is in terrible condition.
The price is ridiculous, don’t play there.
Poor course condition, poor playing conditions
Course was in bad shape, no marshals, slow pace, not a good experience.
Great layout
The course conditions were in really good shape. The greens were running really good. Had such a fun time and can’t wait to play again
A Course on its last legs.
Fairways and sand traps are is dismal shape. Course worker told me that it’s on its last legs- to be replaced by condos and a park. I’m sure it was pretty good several years ago. Some sand traps had nothing but mud in them. Other traps had too much sand. Parts of the fairways were either worn through to black soil or badly gouged and water-filled. The people working here were very friendly, kind, and helpful.
Terrible pace
We were there for 5.5 hours because people in front were taking forever. Didn’t see a marshal the entire day so I imagine they don’t have one. Conditions of fairways were also poor. I played this course 5 years ago and it wasn’t like that.
Jan 2019
Greens Pretty good. Fairways and tee boxes not maintained well at all. Felt like a typical muni.
First time here
Greens were perfect but the fairways have a few more weeks of growing in to be nice. Overall a fantastic course for the $$.
Rainy Day Round
Not fair to rate this course today with all the rain that we have had. I would recommend overseeing; too much bare muddy spots. Greens were in excellent condition. Besides greens, this course has never had fertilizer applied? Pro shop staff were excellent.
River bed could have a major cleaning of all the tulleis!
GolfNow pricing was perfect!
Still got our 18 in today.
Pace of play was terrible, told Marshall three times, group in front of us was three holes nehind. They should hire Marshall's with balls.
A once great course
There was only one problem at this course but it's a big one, the fairways from The Tee Box to the green are in horrible condition. the greens are normal, the starter very friendly and professional. The course has been sold and plans are to build a major housing complex on it. the neighbors are fighting it and because of the fight construction won't begin for quite some time so you think they would maintain the course properly like it once was
Course is neglected
I paid too much to begin with; my fault for deciding the night before. But, the course is in no shape to be charging that much. The greens have disease in too many places. The effects from the rain a few weeks ago was still evident even on the fairways. Maintenance is sorely lacking. To top it off they changed around the course to be one 18 hole and one 9 hole. And the 18 hole starts on most difficult hole. Not fun anymore.
Fun Time
Course was muddy after rain. Restaurant and service was really good. COurse seems to be improving.
Needs repairs.
Although I did not play well do to physical issues, the course conditions did not help. Fairways were muddy with many patches of no grass. Greens were peppered with ball marks and bald spots. I was told by the locals they had had a lot of rain lately. That explains the mud but not the bald spots. Will be a while before I play this course again. Used to be 27 holes, now 18. Interesting layout.
RIP Riverside
This course has no business being open. I understand there was recently some torrential rain that fluided the course but this wasn’t my first time to this course. It was obvious that management has given up on this golf course. While playing for 4 1/2 hours we didn’t see ONE employee working on the course. Cart path only was observed but in reality, many of the fairways were two or more inches of mud so walking out to your ball is a huge mess. The greens have potential but are sill in major need of TLC. I’m sorry RIVERSIDE, RIP…
