Cherry Island Golf Course

We played here many times until some 3 years ago when some undesirable characters, who obviously should not even hold a golf club, were out of hand on the course. My wife was intimated, reported to the pro shop staff but they didn't do anything. Problem was those guys who were intoxicated shot unto our greens while we were putting. There were other incidents similar to this but the pro shop staff or marshal did not do anything. This time though, the course condition and the services were all good. Obviously they made some staff changes as well since we did not see those people. We are coming back again on a regular basis. Thanks Golf.now for your review system. Good layout. Like most courses a couple of odd holes but a good track, good routing, holds your interest and a beautiful setting. Old school interior style (not built in and around houses) which I love, and very fair. Two par 5s are lay ups where the fairway runs out but even at that still reachable in two for boomers, but pay attention, you can't just bang away. I paid a discounted fee so definitely worth it, at full rate maybe a tad high but I will play it again.

Course was in great shape. Greens nice. Pace of play was fine. Lots of footgolfers.
It's grown up a lot since I started playing it in the early 90's. Trees are mature. Fun target golf. Would recommend it.

Course awareness is mandatory. For a first time player at this course, I totally enjoyed the experience. The course is like a roller coaster with dog legs, ponds, bridges, twist, turns and semi blind holes. Finesse is the name of the game, layup and lay back because the ride at Cherry Island is truly an exciting and calming experience. Welcome to the Island.

First time playing this course. Nice to have a 25yr old son golfing with you. Course was in gtreat shape. We will go back.

Excellent conditions. A great value. Cart was old.

We got I the course about 25 minutes before the round started. We waited about a half hour after our tee time to get a cart. This is the only course I've ever played where this was an issue.

The course and facilities were in good condition. However, I paid to ride and they didn't have enough carts for me and a few other patrons. When I arrived in the pro shop, I over heard a couple of golfers quitting at the turn because it took them over 3 hours to complete the front nine. Our round took us over 5 hours to complete and our group had to wait on almost every hole. Better management of the tee times and the size of groups that they let go is very much needed.

Me and some friends wanted to try this course and overall it was fun. Only complaint was that our tee time was at 12:44 but didn't tee off until around 1:10 due to there not being enough carts available. Probably wouldn't play there again but for 25$ not a bad day at all

The course is nicely maintained. It is however confusing getting around the course. Several holes wrap around one another, it can be easy loosing sense of direction. The course is surrounded by trees which provide shaded areas for cooling down.

Have played this course for years and has been going down hill every year. Place of play slow, greens ok, traps bad, very little course management. Staff give impression that they don't care. Management company should be replaced.

Greens had been punched about 2 wks before. Other than greens slow conditions were good. Played under 41/2 hours.

its been 20 plus years since i played cherry island the course has matured nicely had a great time greens were a little slow but readable 4 hour round

7am tee time worked out perfectly. Our 4 some moved along well; pace was perfect. Only concern for me was the re-placement of the white tees vs. gold tees. 15 to 20 yard difference (from a few months ago). My ego wouldnt let me move up to gold...overall the course, staff and weather we're perfect!

Verfy fun time out, was told ahead of time that greens had been punched so we expected that.

Weather was perfect, pace of play great.

5 1/2 hours to play a round. Refused a single cart, made me walk to first tee and find someone to ride with. Never had that happen before.

3 hours to play 9 holes. The ball machine was out of balls at the range. There wasn't a cart ready for us when we got there. Course is in decent shape, pretty good greens.

There are too many other great golf courses in the Sac area to waste time or money at Cherry Island. Super slow after a 30 min delay. No course marshals to help out. Not coming back..

Round took 5 hours on a weekday. Plus had to wait for carts to come in, and there was no time to recharge the carts and GPS systems. GPS quit on the 6th hole, as did the GPS of the others in group.

I have always liked Cherry Island however the tee boxes are a mess not a level one on the course.
the snack shack is absurd $3.50 for an iced tea.
Overall a good experience but would not want to pay more than the $29.00 to play there.
