Not Bad
Course is in good shape .....don't be scared to lay up. And get a early tee time.....really slows down after 9am on the weekends....could be a 6 hour round...
Sacramento Gem
Second time playing Cherry Island. Thinking mans course. Every shot one must think about placement for the second shot. Every club in the bag used. Love the challenge! Great greens and berms!
Great Course Conditions
Despite all the recent weather, the course and the greens are in great shape. Kudos to the staff!
I have tried playing the course 3 times
All 3 times we had the same issue. I have never played on a slower course in my life and I have been playing for over 30 years. All 3 times I have played here our forsome has left by the 12th hole because 4.5 hours threw 12 is just crazy. I will never play here again. Even if it was free.
too slow
Too slow. 5 hrs seemed like 8. Single player beyween foursomes. Never seen such a thing. First and last time playing this course. Several lay up shots too.
good time
I had a very good time at Cherry Island. The guys that I was matched up with were friendly and funny. it took over 5 hours to play but it only felt like under 4.
Great Time @ Cherry Island
I have played this course a couple of times a year for several years. I have to say that it keeps getting better. It's very scenic, lively with wild life, the greens are big with a friendly roll, and the layout keeps you guessing with several long windy holes. 24 oz beers are cheap and cold, and the hot dogs (you have a choice of regular or spicy) are very good. Staff are always friendly. And the driving range has real grass! Also, the carts all have GPS. I didn't use it a whole lot, but it seems to be very accurate, including the guide post in the middle of the fairways. Great value as well. Definitely looking forward to playing Cherry Island again.
Fun fun
A good course with high risk and reward, off the tee box. Definitely a course to learn good course management.
Greens
Don't go to Sac. Much but when I do the golf is good. Cherry Island is a great place to play the greens and fairways were great . The wind blew hard but it's still a great place to play whether your a beginner or a skilled player. When I get back up that way I will play again.
Public course delight
For a public golf course I found this place to be well cared for. The fairways were full of thick, green grass cut low, but not to low. The greens were true and had minimal ball marks left on them. The bunkers were filled and raked, however the drainage seemed to be sub-standard. All in all, an excellent value for a respectable public golf course. It's not too challenging and it's not too easy. If you hit the ball well your score will show it on this course, if you are having an off day your score will show it as well.
Bring your A game and leave with a grin :)
Put in front of Tournament
Felt rushed and hit into on a few fairways.
We we waiting all day for group in front of us and pushed by Tournament behind us. People who play this course never fix ball marks on greens on every hole. Need more signs about that and better signs on next tee boxes.
Beautiful fall round
Course looks great, staff was helpful, turkeys and others were out in numbers. Great day even though the actual golfing on my part was only ok.
FIX YOUR PACE OF PLAY
My friends and I used to play out here a lot. Really like the layout and the course is always in good shape. The problem is their pace of play. Dont understand why it plays so slow. Maybe they are putting too many people out with too little time in between t times? The last 2 times we played it took 5 hours which is ridiculous! We stopped playing there because of it. You can play anywhere in the valley and easily play a 4 hour round so until they fix their pace issues, we will not be back.
franks day at cherry
greens need some love, ball marks every were, no one seems to be repairing the greens, marshals should help with this problem, other wise love the course.
Nice course
Very nice course the greens had just been punched so they were a little tuff but other than that very nice.
Please state when you aerate.
Usually like this course but was disappointed that they did not show aeration happened on days before we played.
Good corse
It's a nice corse for the buck it would be great to play in the morning for it a little hot in the afternoon because lot of moisture come off the grass because of good watering but had lots of fun.
Pleasantly surprized
Course was in very good condition, greens very smooth. Course was challenging with big greens. Only negative would be pace of play. We played on a Thursday and it took 5 hours.
I'm sorry to hear that it took you so long to finish but I'm glad to hear you had a good experience otherwise! I checked the tee sheet for the day you played and I think I see what happened. I can promise you this is not the typical play experience out here and I hope we will see you out here again soon so we can prove it to you. :)
Cherry island
Nice outing. Good course. Very enjoyable facilities.
cherry island
I had a fun time playing this course. I am a beginner and it was a little challenging but in a good way. Lots of dog legs but it makes you think and practice those shots that you need as you grow as a golfer .
will and going to play here again
Thanks for your wonderful comments. We try to provide a exceptional golf experience and are really glad to hear you enjoyed it! Looking forward to seeing you out here again soon.
Thanks for coming out to play! Glad to hear you enjoyed it and hope to have you out here again soon for a round in the morning or a nice fall afternoon. It's usually a lot cooler in late September. :)
