Good Experience
First time playing this course... staff was friendly, course in good condition, probably not the best course for beginner golfers (tough), but fun for most!
Only negative is they stress no outside food/beverage allowed, however never saw a cart on a busy Friday and they need to do better job marking the course with signs for next hole (not many concrete cart paths, mostly grass green to tee).
Would recommend to friends, and we were told new owners investing $$$ into course, which should make this already nice course even better!
A Beast
This course is a brute from the tips. We had moderate winds in the afternoon but otherwise great conditions and a great value. The best course that I have played on central Cal. My only complaint is the bunkers being crumbly dirt instead of sand
tough layout, country club greens
This course challanges all parts of your game. The wildlife is a treat, always something going on with the hawks, turkey vultures, bobcats, coyotes, blue herons, etc. Be prepared to shoot at least a few strokes more than normal
Tough but fun.
Lots of wonderful chances to lose your ball or get caught in a trap. If you think you're playing well at other golf courses, come here and challenge yourself on this great course.
One of the Best tin the West golf courses
Twas just a perfect day to play on a awesome golf course like la purisima. An experience of a picturesque and well maintained course will enhance your spiritual golf pleasures for its tranquility and setting of this golf course..it's worth the trip fr Los Angeles once or twice a year
Yikes Stay on the fairway
This was a challenge in the rough, so beautifully rugged. Amazing views of wild birds. and landscape.
It was an "Emperiors play" (know one in front ,know one following). As a beginner and new to this course I'm glad I got paired up with two great guys from Korea that made it that more fun.
The wind came up but I felt the back 9 was not that windy.
Excellent FUN.
Yes you will lose a few balls....
Early round
Tough course but well maintained. Nice fairways and greens. Looking forward to my next round there.
Challenging with great views!
Phenomenal golf course for the value & it is in great condition even being dry in a severe CA drought...perfect fast & true greens...intertwines through rolling hills, oak trees & lakes with beautiful views & no houses! I'm a 5 handicap from the blues & 1st time playing it I shot a disappointing 80 with no birdies or eagles, it was a challenging track with a few blind tee shots that take course knowledge...warning this place is always very windy like 25 to 35+ mph winds! Also no real cart paths but well worth playing! A must play for the avid golfer!
Really tough but enjoyable course
Great course, really tough, they need not let fivesomes play, we got behind a group of five and we were a twosome, they would not let us by which kinda ruined the round for us, but other than that it was a enjoyable day of golf.
central coast best course
This track is the best course on the central coast. It Is a must play for visitors.
Greens were perfect
Excellent public course with a great rate off golfnow! A bit out of the way though. Bunkers are tougher as hardpan, not fluffy, but greens are excellent and fast! A few blind shots so go ahead and scope out hole or you will get into trouble on several holes, water, rough.
excellent conditions
La Purisima has always been one of the toughest course around the area. Very well conditioned and always fun and challenging at the same time.
You'll need some local course knowledge....
Well worth the drive....
Greens just perfect.
Fairways in great shape.
If you haven't played here, you should, however, it would certainly help if you have someone with you that has played here. There are quite a few holes that you either can't see where you should hit. If you're by yourself, ride up and take a look.
It has mixed paved and dirt cart paths. Some wierd areas where you park your cart for the next tee shot.
great place!
Challenging but in a really fun way. Great condition for a course and amazing value. It was windy but wasn't too bad. Lots of tricky opening drives but it's really fun and absolutely gorgeous. Lots of birds chirping, etc.
BEST COURSE FOR THE PRICE EVER!!
I've played here a few times a year for the past 10 years, and I'll have to say it is in better shape than I have ever seen! The trees have been trimmed on every hole and all the rough is a consistent very playable length. Yet the course is still challenging as ever! The U.S open qualifier will be there May 15th! Lastly the staff was very helpful and friendly! We couldn't of asked for a better round of golf.
Poison Oak
The course can pick up to a stiff blowing wind from morning to afternoon. There is poison oak in all the shaded oak areas especially off 17. Watch out!
Interesting course...
I enjoyed the round. It is a difficult course and the wind will affect just about every shot. I found many shots to be blind and would highly recommend pairing up with someone who knows the course. Some of the tee shots I couldn't tell where the fairway was and even with a rangefinder didn't know what the right distance was.
One of the best courses in the state
As usual La P. wins. Greens were more friendly than I remember, but two putting with 20 feet is still not easy. Will continue to play it a couple times a year.
like playing on a dairy farm, very picturisque
Overall a wonderful course, very long and twist and turns from the very first hole. Only thing is cart paths are none existent and its easy to get lost. Yet a great golf course
