About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

An enjoyable round
Let me preface this by saying that I have never been a big fan of Johnny Miller’s courses. That said I always play this one a time or two when traveling in the area.
There are a few forced carries here, some blind shots, but overall a fair course. Course condition was pretty good, greens a tad stressed but roll true. Pace of play iffy at times as the new wave of golf aficionados don’t hey the etiquette.
Well managed these days and every employee I encountered was very nice.
Needs better signage
Course was not very busy so pace of play was not an issue; signage however was. It was not always clear where to go, which slowed my personal pace of play as I was solo, and this was my first time at this course. There are many situations where you are hitting relatively blind. so I struggled with how to play many shots. Despite that, I found the course interesting and very challenging, so I will return, but with a GPS app to hopefully, help my course management/shot selection. I did appreciate the numerous water stations as the heat was oppressive.

Challenging!
I have a love hate relationship with Whitney Oaks. Very challenging golf course. Dont hit it long. Course is always in great condition. Greens were rolling well and the course was holding up well in the heat.

Beautiful Beast
This is one of my favorite courses in the Sacramento area. It has many beautiful, memorable (sometimes painfully so) holes. Between the tight, uneven fairways and the very challenging greens I often get my butt kicked but love every minute of it (OK MOST of the minutes).

Course is losing some of its luster.
Course conditions seem to be slipping. Much crabgrass throughout the course. Lots of ball marks that were not repaired properly affecting the greens. Stairs leading up to number 12 T box or just Drt. Course needs attention now to keep from getting worse.

Challenging Course
Everything about this course is great, I only wish players would rack their bunkers after playing out of them.

Gimmick
Blind tee shots are a gimmick. They’re just simply too unfair to most of us novice players. The carts are really cool and have a GPS but it’s slow and the operating system is slow, too. You can’t have it all but you’re asking for my opinion!

Facility and course in Great Shape
The facility and course are in great shape. The practice area is very well kept and the clubhouse is one of the best in the area. Great food and drinks. The range needs new practice balls.
Don't bring hackers to this course; the track is tough. Front 9 is where you need to score because the Back 9 is very challenging. Carts are very nice and the staff is helpful. I would recommend.

Nice little track
Aside from some interestingly placed holes, the course was enjoyable to play. If you stay straight the scorecard will will look favorable but miss the fairway and trouble awaits. I’d play here again but hopefully some of the repairs will be completed soon.

Superb course--slow play
Excellent venue in very very good condition. New carts with GPS and very interesting holes. Only problem was very slow play--we had to skip #11 and then moved smoothly on.

Beautiful day for golf.
The course has been is better shape, it looked like the end of August not the middle of June on a record low temperature year. I played several other courses near by that were in much better condition. This has always been one of my favorite courses so a little disappointing but hard to complain about a round of golf.

This is the first time for me that the pace of play was nice I didn’t have to wait on anyone trough the entire course , course conditions really nice , green little slow then usual I play this course often and I’ll continue playing here until I break Par, 4 strokes away from the blue tees, I wish the tips were available , good luck to all golfers out there this course is not for beginners lot of hazards and trees.
