Whitney Oaks Golf Club

Course was well maintained , fairways were plush, rough was cut and playable, greens were very receptive and well maintained. Staff was very friendly along with the players on the course. I will definitely play this course again.

Staff were everywhere in front of tees. And on greens - not paying attention to players - almost hit two - greens were just sanded but no one mentioned it at checkin

Great course, but too many blind shots and forced lay ups.

Like the amenities and golf carts with their gps!

We will return, but hope course is adjusted for more “fair play”.

Pace of play was horrible. Almost every 2-3 holes there would be a different group in front of me. To many young adults abusing easy access to the course.

5 hours on a Tuesday! Do I need to say more? I started playing this course in 1999, was always one of my favorite tracks for the layout, greens have always been tough. Unfortunately the greens have got away from them and the mounds, hills and pin placements have become borderline unplayable. Tee to green it’s a great layout. But as in many Johnny Miller courses I’ve played it’s the same story. Johnny couldn’t putt at the end of his career so his designs always punish players. Too tricked up, mounding and guys who put out pin placements just don’t get it. Five hours, come on Whitney or Thunder Valley, course Marshall’s must be there to encourage pace of play!!!! Guys hitting 3-4 tee shots, then 2-3 from their second shot, hitting one where they can’t find it and return to the fairway where you thought they were gone and came back to hit from their original spot because of the “rules” and then hit it on again!!!! People this is a game, nobody is collecting a check, nobody cares what you shoot, have fun and enjoy the scenery and play the game! I simply would t recommend the track based on the greens, we gotta have at least one birdie pin for a chance. Not every pin has to be on the edge of a mound, 2 paces in the back left corner with OB 15 feet behind, so you play to the middle and have no way to make a putt because your on some weird slope and the ball goes three different ways before it rolls off the green because of the pin placements and slope to stop a ball with a putter… anyway it’s been fun and real , see you anywhere but here again

The marshal was nowhere to be seen during our 6 hour round. Group Infront was terribly slow. Sent messages from the cart but nothing came of it. Course is nice besides that.

Had this joker out there sending guys off. We had a 10:20 and at 10:15 he send off a foursome, and our round took almost 6hrs. His last words were they won't slow, it took them 20 plus minutes to putt, it got to where the people behind us were hitting into us. No marshal to come out. Ridiculous to be honest, seeings how there was barely anyone playing

Well like i said the course is fantastic but they definitely need to put a marshal in the course checking the pace on the groups because sometimes it gets super slow so please control the pace a little better thanks.

Let me preface this by saying that I have never been a big fan of Johnny Miller’s courses. That said I always play this one a time or two when traveling in the area.

There are a few forced carries here, some blind shots, but overall a fair course. Course condition was pretty good, greens a tad stressed but roll true. Pace of play iffy at times as the new wave of golf aficionados don’t hey the etiquette.

Well managed these days and every employee I encountered was very nice.

Course was not very busy so pace of play was not an issue; signage however was. It was not always clear where to go, which slowed my personal pace of play as I was solo, and this was my first time at this course. There are many situations where you are hitting relatively blind. so I struggled with how to play many shots. Despite that, I found the course interesting and very challenging, so I will return, but with a GPS app to hopefully, help my course management/shot selection. I did appreciate the numerous water stations as the heat was oppressive.

I have a love hate relationship with Whitney Oaks. Very challenging golf course. Dont hit it long. Course is always in great condition. Greens were rolling well and the course was holding up well in the heat.

This is one of my favorite courses in the Sacramento area. It has many beautiful, memorable (sometimes painfully so) holes. Between the tight, uneven fairways and the very challenging greens I often get my butt kicked but love every minute of it (OK MOST of the minutes).

Course conditions seem to be slipping. Much crabgrass throughout the course. Lots of ball marks that were not repaired properly affecting the greens. Stairs leading up to number 12 T box or just Drt. Course needs attention now to keep from getting worse.
