Whitney Oaks Golf Club

About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Challenging, but fun.
Whitney is a very challenging course. Precision is key. Lot of doglegs, carry over cross creeks/ravines.
With that said, the place is in excellent condition, the practice facility is one of the best around. The staff is very friendly.
Punching greens
They were punching the greens on the back and not even going in number order so I had to wait 2 separate times about 10-15 minutes just to finish. If the guy in the pro shop would’ve said something this would’ve probably not bothered me as much but he literally said you will have no restrictions playing a fast round
Slowww play and no Marshall
The course itself is beautiful but the pace of play was incredibly slow. We played on a Saturday and the group in front of us were three players along with two girlfriends/wives and two little kids. No marshall around to tell the kids not to play in the sand trap or to rake them afterwards. Just parents chasing their kids around on a golf course in a Saturday with no care of anyone behind them for 5 1/2 hours
Great course
Always have enjoyed playing this course. Today was the first time playing with my sons and they loved it and I loved the time spent with them on such a wonderful course. Looking forward to playing here again with my sons.
A great game
Review of Whitney Golf Course, California
I had an absolutely fantastic time playing at Whitney Golf Course. The way the course plays is just phenomenal—well-maintained fairways, smooth greens, and a layout that offers both challenge and enjoyment for any golfer. Every hole felt thoughtfully designed, making the round not only competitive but also a great experience overall.
One of the biggest highlights was the staff. From check-in to the final hole, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the day even more enjoyable. It’s always nice to play at a course where the staff genuinely cares about the players’ experience.
The food was another pleasant surprise. After the round, grabbing a bite was a great decision because everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Definitely a strong point for the course.
The only downside was the electronic scorecard system in the carts. It initially stated that scores could be emailed or printed, but unfortunately, that feature wasn’t functional. Apparently, the course’s new management didn’t renew the subscription, which was a little disappointing. It’s a minor thing, but it would have been nice to have that option.
Overall, Whitney Golf Course is an excellent place to play, and I’d highly recommend it to any golfer looking for a great day on the course. With friendly staff, fantastic course conditions, and great food, it’s a must-visit. I just hope they fix the scorecard system in the future!
Tuff
Conditions were exceptional. Pace of play was terribly slow 5:45 to get to 16th hole n called it a day. But everything was great.
Nice but very slow play
Course in good shape but very slow play and no real effort by Marshall to address the couple of groups who were the issue. Staff in pro shop and bar were very nice.
Challenging but fun!
Whitney Oaks is one of the toughest course in Sac area. Tee shots open up narrow fairways then the second shots bring in lots of little creeks then fast and undulating greens test your putting skills.
The condition of the course is very good considering recent rain.Only problem was it took 30 more minutes to complete the round. Considering the tough course layout with full tee sheet it was expected but no Marshall to manage the pace. Only the gps screen on the golf cart will tell you you’re behind but it doesn’t know we had to wait on every hole.
Was the greenskeeper mad when placing flags?
Or nah? Nearly every flag was on the edge of the green, whether it be front or back. I admit, my score was due to my own errant shots, but pin placement could be a bit more favorable. Fairways are brown which I expect in the wintertime but as sloped as the greens are.. C'mon man!
Real test
Played from Club tees @6100 slope 127 too low should be 130+ tight fairways and hazards with bvery difficult greens
