Whitney Oaks Golf Club

I have played at this course many times over the last few years but this last visit, the staff made us feel very unwelcomed and consequently, we did not enjoy our round. First, the staff at the clubhouse was less than friendly, no greeting and all business with a straight face. I tried to exchange pleasantries and he didn't even respond, he was curt and told me what I owed and pointed me to the carts. I didn't think much of it and figured he was just pre-occupied.

We then went to the first tee, the starter was the one who ruined our day. He first started by asking if we're from the area. We responded that we've golfed here many times before but that we don't reside in the county. He then proceeded to go on an unfriendly rant about how people not from the county should not be allowed to golf at their golf course, indicating "we don't go golf at other at golf courses out of our county." He then went on to say that it's a shame that over 30% of their golfers recently are from out of the county and that it's making their golf course overcrowded. Finally, he sternly told us, almost in a scolding like fashion, that we need to clean up our cart when we're done. We decided to not say anything and ignore his comments.

We really felt like we weren't welcomed and as if they were doing us a favor. We were pretty upset the rest of the day and did not enjoy our round of golf feeling like we're 2nd class customers. We also decided that we will never visit this golf course again. I've also been telling all my friends about our experience and some of them shared similar experiences at this course.

Perhaps the management team may not care about a single golfer's comment but eventually the number of unhappy golfers will add up and ultimately it will affect their business down the road.

GREAT COURSE TO TEST YOUR SKILLS WITH VARIOUS LAYOUTS AND HAZARDS. COURSE IN GREAT CONDITION. LOVE TO PLAY IT TO TEST MY GROWING SWING SKILLS.

Came up from fresno and played with a friend who lives in Rocklin. Arrived an hour before our tee time and the gentleman in the pro shop moved us up so we could start earlier. The people in the snack bar were also prompt and very nice and had things that you could pruchase to take with you. We enjoyed the course and layout but it is definitely a course you have to play a couple times so you know where to hit and place your shots! Greens were rolling well and true but green placement was very important. I would love to play here again now that I've played here and looking foward to coming back. Had a great time!!

Course is in great condition and it’s just absolutely beautiful out there! Can’t beat the price for that kind of course! Can’t wait to go back!!

course very difficult but playable from respective tees, white for me. gps worked great but distances to hazards, ie. creeks environmental areas would be helpful. one day an overhead realtime view of holes would be great especially with a few blind holes. overall challenging course and fun to play with a great foursome.

If you need to hit from an adjacent fairway from Time to time this is not the course for you. Trees around the greens and hazards everywhere It is very easy to get into trouble and realize that your game is not as good as you thought it was. If you hit with laser accuracy the. Go out and play.. as for the rest of us this course will make you feel bad. Excellent condition I just wish I knew how to play welll enough to enjoy it.

I had not been here in over 20 years so it was like playing a new course. I quickly remembered why many of Johnny Miller/Ron Fream courses end up getting re-done after a few years, they design stupid green complexes that are too severe for the majority of shots that need to be played. The course has to keep the greens super slow on the Stimpmeter otherwise everyone would be 4 or more putting regularly. That's just plain silly for public golf.

Conditions were otherwise good.

Course is a little tricky first time playing but we enjoyed it . Greens were slow but rest of course was good.

I had not played here in quite a while.....probably about five years......I will come back again soon. I enjoyed this round a lot. The layout is great with many interesting holes although I don’t s have a second shot for number 8 and 17 now that I’m older. Staff today was outstanding under the conditions.

Outstanding layout. Tough. Greens are challenging. Course was wet after three days of rain, so power carts were "cart path only." Still very enjoyable. Took advantage of a Hot Deal price.

FAIRWAYS STILL IN BAD WINTER CONDITION WITH LOTS OF BROWN SPOTS. STILL A GREAT CHALLENGING COURSE

What a beautiful day! The grounds people continue to impress with the excellent greens, fairways and tees. Please, keep it up! Once again, we were able to get off early and were only 7-minutes off the course time after 18 - despite following a 5-some. 70+ degrees. No wind like yesterday. Enough good scores to be coming back. Nice course in good condition with challenging greens. Unfortunately pace of play this Saturday was just horrible. They booked t-times every 5-7 min so we had to wait for every single shot.. At the end we were 70 min behind. There is no ranger on course to regulate pace.

This being the first time I've played the course I didn't know what to expect. The first thing I noticed was the winter brown fairways. There was something about this type of grass that didn't settle well with my eyes. Compared to other local courses, this has been the only one that I've played like this. The greens have already been micro-punched which didn't seem to affect the putting. The pin placements where all in pretty difficult positions today. Maybe under different conditions, I'll try going back for another round. I think I"m going to wait for the conditions to improve before going back.

Blazing fast undulating greens are a pleasure to putt on. Challenging course for any skill level. Probably why it takes about 6 hours to play. I’ll be back to see if pace improves. I doubt it
