About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Just a great course
People either love this course or hate it. If you can keep your ball in play then it’s great. If you’re left or right then it’s going to be a very long day. Not overly long at 6100 for blues, the teeth for the course is there is just no forgiveness if you hit some loose shots. BRING EXTRA BALLS. Some people do not like the “target golf” style of this course. There are at least 6 holes that are par 4s that you SHOULD hit iron instead of driver to keep it in play. Even the par 5 11th does not need driver since there is little hope of getting there in 2. I love the course because it makes you think. The greens are also usually fast and roll true.

Great conditions & pace of play
This course has really been turning around on condition ever since it was taken over by the casino. The upgraded carts with GPS are nice, but the course conditions are far more suited to the players. The greens are rolling true and of fair pace, tee boxes and fairways are in v Ryan good conditions. I teed off at 6:10 as the first person off and played in about 2 hours. Great way to start off a Sunday morning. The picture is of the approach to the 11th hole.

This course has great staff, & the lay-out is tough, but awesome!

Course is in great shape
Greens are rolling super fast. Fairways are in good shape too. A little slow after the first few holes because we caught up to a 5some, but they only played 9. I have played many rounds at this course and it’s one of my favorites. If you hit a lot of balls left or right, bring a lot of balls. If you can keep it in play you can score because it’s not super long from the blues. New carts have GPS and very comfortable seats.

Excellent Spring Play
Beautiful weather today playing on a well-prepared course. Greens are fast. Fairways in excellent shape. Round pace was just over 4 hours. Perfect day at Whitney Oaks.

Honest assesment
I have just recently gotten back into golfing so my level is that of a beginner. With that said i can not recommend this course to anyone but very experienced players. It is a beautiful course, but not for newbies.

Course is really run down
Most of the fairways were just giant mud holes. Most of the grass was dead .Greens were fair but needed lots of work. Was very disappointing as last year everything looked green and healthy. Really a shame!

Great Shape (for January after the rains)
Found the course to be in great shape following our rainy period. Fairways were mostly dry. Sand traps need a lot of work. Greens were perfect and FAST! Beautiful, sunny day perfect for winter golf.

Tough course!
The greens are in good shape, but difficult! The fairways are brown due to winter and the grass going dormant, but it’s still a great course. It beats me up every time I play it, but I keep coming back.

Shot in the dark worked!
This was a great surprise. I had heard that Whitney was just plain bad. I played years ago and it was fine but old management let it die. However the casino has taken over and you can tell. Greens are wicked but in great shape. Layout is very good and difficult from blues and even harder from black marker. (No tee markers for black) I can honestly say I enjoyed playing this course. Pace was fine on a Saturday. No starter after 12 makes me wonder a bit about staff. This may turn into a 5 star soon if the casino keeps it a priority. Well done.

Whitney Oaks Horribly S....L....O....W.
The Whitney Oaks pro shop desk employee (a young Caucasian female) sent my cousin and I out behind 4 very slow and inexperienced golfers. It was a very long round and I won't be back to a golf course where the pro shop is robotic, ignorant and inconsiderate.

Like Riding Rapids
Whitney Oaks must have reworked some greens. They were in perfect shape. However, very, very difficult with the rolls and ledges. The greens were the most challenging I've played in a long time. Challenging; but also really fun! Course is in great shape for this time of year. Keep up the good work!
