About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Way too difficult for high handicaps
It was very windy The fairway Bermuda was brown which was expected, and had trouble with irons. Greens were way too fast with tough pin placements . A couple dumb lay up holes The on course service was horrible. Drinks were skimpy and over priced . The cart girl charged a friend .$8.50 for a jack and coke . She kept half of the coke and served it to him the flattened soda later in the round when he ordered a second drink . Also when asked for water she charged a $3 bottle inly to find a drinking fountain outside the bathroom near the next tee The homes around the course are gorgeous. Be mindful of an errant shot Overall beautiful , not worth the 9 balls I lost It may play better mid summer but I won’t be back

Good course and rates but not sure why fairways are brown
Whitney Oaks is a very good course and can be challenging. Many of the holes have trouble if you aren't accurate with your shots, The rates are very fair; many times you can get good deals under $30 for your tee times.
The greens are a challenging; can be very fast will quite a bit of slope on some holes.
Typically in California this time of year the fairways are very green if a bit soggy. Yet the fairways at Whitney Oaks are brown during the winter. Assume the grass they have is the same that you see in the Mid-west that goes dormant during the winter?

Excellent Winter Golf
Picked the perfect day for golf today. Cool; but the pace of play and course conditions (for winter) - especially the excellent greens, made for a great round. We were able to get off early finishing in under 4 hours. Thanks to the groundskeepers and the starter.

The fairways are almost bare with the Bermuda grass dormant and the cold, wet conditions. It was still a good value.

Whitney Oaks is an exceptional golf course. A Johnny Miller designed course that presents interesting challenges for golfers of all levels. Cleary it's one of the best courses in the region!

The Punisher
I absolutely love this course, it is the toughest track in the area. I always allow myself a lengthy warm up at the outstanding short game practice area. Be prepared and try not to be a hero when you get into trouble here or you will be punished, often lavishly. Go to Texas..

Affordable, beautiful, very challenging course
I absolutely love this course. Very very challenging course. Sometimes I wish the pin placement was easier especially with the harder holes.

Course is in good shape and greens are tricky .Take time to practice the greens are fast and if you see a break its there.Play was a little slow but great weather .

Hard, Really Hard
Super challenging course, especially first time around. Pretty disappointed with course conditions, tee boxes and fairways were pretty reached and lots of dry dead fairways.

Want a course in perfect condition this time of year? Whitney Oaks is it. Greens are amazing - fast and in perfect condition. Fairways wonderful to play from (wish I was on more of them). T-boxes almost all excellent. Well done, grounds crew! Keep it up. We'll be back.
