Woodcreek is always a great golf course
Although some of the bunkers we’re not playable and there was some areas of mud overall the course is in great shape
Notify punched greens
We arrived about an hour prior to our tee time. When checking in the pro shop told us we’d have to wait 15 minutes for a cart, so we went to the lounge.
Once loaded up, we went to the practice green and realized they had recently punched the greens
Hadn’t played here before, and didn’t see a yardage book in the pro shop.
There are many blind tee shots, so I’d recommend playing with a box of Topflite.
It was a warm day, and all but one water jug was empty.
There are plenty of courses in the area, so we’ll go elsewhere.
Great Weather, Great Pace
The greens had been refurbished a week or so ago, so putting was problematic. The sand traps need work. However, we played in just over 3 hours and thoroughly enjoyed the fairways, weather and pace.
Poor condition today
The course had punched the greens a few days ago but no 'aeration warning' was given on the Golf Now web site for Wood Creek. In addition, the course was not being managed properly. Dry spots all over the place in areas I hadn't notice in previous rounds.
Needs a major cleanup and better management.
The weather was a little warmer than usual and the scenery was perfect. Now the bad things. There were more geese and ducks on the greens and fairways than the players. I have never seen any worse condition of the fairways in the World. Even the fairways in Guam and some remote desert courses had better managed fairways.
In addition, there were some unexplained and unreasonable blind spots, mud holes due to overwatering.
Thousands of years old half-dead and withered oak trees right in the center and close to the greens was a joke.
Good thing. The layout is very good. The course can appreciate a major facelift so that it could compete against the premier courses nearby. I saw the great possibility. Thanks.
Average course, bad fairways and greens
There are some rough, dry, and bald areas on most of the fairways. The fairways and rough are cut just right. There were numerous greens that were in bad conditions with a few of them cut too short by the mower.
Overall the course is nice. It is also somewhat challenging with forced layups and blind corners.
I do like this course, I just wish it was in better condition.
Some issues
Soggy irrigation ruin some interesting holes. Blind shots ruin some interesting holes. A little bit of tree trimming would solve some of these issues. What trends towards being a different kind of course gets aggravating with the blind shots and soggy conditions. I mean it's approaching the end of August and there are some major puddles and swampy spots on the course.
Get rid of geese
Good public course inundated with Canadian geese. At times geese dominate what is a beautiful hole.,especially 9 and 18.
Would love to know how to play hole # 5????
Course was really wet!!!
We tee’d off at 6:52 and you could tell they overwatered the course in anticipation of a hot day. Everything was great except for the wet fairways and greens.
A beautiful course in really rough shape
A friend of mine and I went to play Woodcreek for the first time yesterday. Upon entry I was impressed with their expansive golf shop. However, once we got on the course it became very clear that this course had seen better times. There were spots in the fairway that were completely flooded despite it being dry and hot right now. Often times missing the green could result in your ball rolling on hardpan which creates a very difficult next shot. Some of the sand traps were poorly maintained and ran right up into that hardpan. I will say though, the layout of the course could be very nice. There are a lot of shots that require you to place your ball in a specific area to create an easy shot into the pin. There is a lot of water hazards on the course and the greens rolled pretty slow. Overall, I would play this course again if I could find a good deal but wouldn’t think of paying course fees.
Course condition for a public layout is average
Greens are the best attribute of the course and are above average but Fairways have many areas of no grass and some areas where they have more water than they need resulting in muddy conditions to despite 100 degree weather
The traps are not manicured contain weeds and in some cases there is no sand
Only two or three sources of drinking water and no cups you need to have your own water container
There are much better public courses to play within 15 miles such as Empire Ranch and Ancil Hoffman
Play here only if you can't get a tee time anywhere else because the course condition is not worth the money
Great first time experience. Only regret, leaving my box of bandaids in the cart. my buddy brought for me. Smh. Thanks JB it was fun.
Woodcreek is a great challenge
The course was in very good condition and pace of play was great. We enjoyed the layout and found the greens to be very fair. Several of the holes are tricky so you must be able to know correct yardages to layups and hazards. . The course requires course management and be sure and pick the right tees. The pro shop is well stocked and the restaurant is great.
Nice day with some drawbacks
We arrived for our mid day tee time and were informed they were out of carts for the moment and an anticipated 30 minute delay was expected. The pro shop let us know they would call us when a cart was available. They followed through and called us for our carts and we took the keys and went back out to the practice facilities. What they did not inform us was that once we got our carts we would be teeing off. So after about 10 minutes I drove back to the pro shop and asked what time they thought we would tee off. They informed us that we were on the opening tee. Well then it was a mad rush to get up there and start our round. It was a little hectic way to start a round. Once out on the course though for the most part the course was in good shape. On certain holes you could tell they had overwatered recently as there were definitely some swampy areas where there should not have been. Specifically on hole 5 up near a large oak tree stands before you get to the green I landed my ball at the bottom of a hill and when I went to find it my foot sunk ankle deep into mud. That seemed to be not the norm but an exception. The greens rolled nicely and seemed to be in good shape. Had some tough pin placements which made the round more difficult and fun. The only other complaint I have is the sand traps were in pretty terrible shape. They were either muddy or had standing water in them, with the exception of one or two we had the pleasure of visiting there was virtually no sand at all. Overall impression, for a muni course at 32 dollars for the round, not too bad. If I were a bit better golfer maybe some of those pitfalls described above would not be as troublesome. 7 out of 10.
Great Experience
I have played here many times and it never disappoints. Fairways were lush and well maintained...greens were firm and rollin true.
A great course for all levels of golfers. Staff always friendly. And when done...step into legions for a beer and something to eat. A well know bar/restaruant for friendly service and great food/brews!
Sand traps
Too many of the traps still have water in them. You lose balls because the water is deep in the bunkers.
