Admiral Baker
Fun course, got around in 3 hours yesterday. Love that there isn't a lot of trouble if you miss the fairway, no canyons and such to lose a ball. Still tough if your not in the fairway but fair.
Good value.
South is not a long or shot demanding course, it's a straight forward, tee to green resort style layout. Good for just getting out with friends and a few beers. Course is in good overall shape, green and lush like most in the area due to heavy rains this winter. Greens unfortunately (poa) are very bumpy and slow. A very average course with nice amenities. North is the one you want to play for a challenge.
Enjoyable
I've played the course many times before, both north and south courses. Both are great. The greens are very nice and the fairways are very good for the price. The bar/restaurant is great, one of the best around. On this occasion, it was incredibly slow, though not because of the 2-3 groups of seniors ahead of us. They were very quick. It was the 3-some of 20-somethings that somehow thought they were Jordan Spieth on the 18th of the Masters on every hole. They were ridiculously slow and had no idea what golf etiquette is.
Great round!
Course is in really good shape. Dry or dead patches in fairways are minimal. Greens are in incredible shape. Length of rough made for a nice challenge, especially on #3.
Bang for your buck!!!
The course was in great shape! Greens were in excellent condition! Played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours as a four-some. All in all play here!
Nice track
The pace of place was great. No lag time between holes. The course has a good layout, not too tough but not easy either. The rough is very thick as are the entry to the greens. Short chips have to make it to the green or they will hit and sink shy of the putting surface. Great bar and dining area after the round. GPS in the carts is nice also.
Fun and nice course.
The only thing I don't enjoy much is how the fairways hit into each other most the time. Lots of balls flying around. Besides that, food and drink prices are awesome, and the course is in good shape.
Great course to walk
Great course with great value. I walked the course with a push-cart and there was no point where I regretted walking. Perfect weather once the morning warmed up and I loved the design of the course, but beware..it can be tricky. You need to be accurate teeing off on the 11th hole and crossing the creek on the 13th, or else the water will have its way (trust me). Also, there's a small ditch on the 10th and 17th that can test your wedge game. All in all, great course with a good assortment of fun hazards. Highly recommend to all in the area!
Good Day For Golf
Played the South Course, we were able to get our round started on time on a Friday morning. The course conditions were ok/average, some bare spots on some of the fairways but the greens were in good conditions. For the price I would play this course again.
South was great. Not quite as tough as North but very enjoyable and course was in good shape...short par 4's..lots of birdie opps...always love playing Admiral Baker north or south...
SO Under-appreciated
Outstanding surprise. I played the North Course about 15 years ago, and ever since, I've been telling myself to check out Admiral Baker again. "Again" finally happened and now, I want to work this course into the rotation.
Wide open fairways on the front, hitting into postage sized greens. It's a fun track. Not super challenging, but a great course to work on your irons. The greens were punched two weeks ago, which means the greens are still two weeks away from being solid. Fairways were in great condition. Tee boxes were in good condition. Bunkers have a lot of soil in them and could use a lot more sand. We paid $42 per golfer and were off at 8:45am. Round took 4hrs, 7min. Definitely coming back.
Great value
My wife and I like to play a few times a week and we are not looking for a difficult course just some time in the sun and knock it around. This course is a great value for the money and pace of play was good. The staff was great always pleasant and helpful. The range sucks as they use mats...I hate mats. a few putting greens and chipping greens that work well. We did enjoy the North course more but both good value.
Read the Small Print
Golf now failed to alert me to the issue of having no back nine on the South course. Putting an important alert in small print isn't fair. I was disappointed and had to ask to be let on the North course, which was busy and difficult.
A good day golfin
Very nice course for the money can wait to play it again.
Don't miss the Admiral!
Played the Admiral Baker south course on June 15, 2017 at mid day and liked it very much! The course was in good shape and the pace of play was fine. The course lies in a valley with excellent views of the surrounding hills. A stream runs alongside some of the holes and you hit over water a couple of times, but it is not a difficult course. We rode, but it could easily be walked. It was a privilege to play on a course that was once open only to the military!
Good deal for the price
I have played the North course at Admiral Baker many times through the years because I enjoy the layout. But for the last couple of rounds, I decided to try out the South course.
My brother and I were joined by another 2-some and we teed off on time. Pace of play was nearly perfect (3 hours, 50 minutes) in completing the full 18 holes. The fairways were in good shape and the greens were terrific, albeit a little slow.
The course is fairly non-descript, with just a few nuances. It is a forgiving course, with many adjoining fairways for wayward drives. A good mixture of short par 4's and longer par 4's. Great opportunities for birdies, but also challenging enough were par is a great score.
For $35, not a bad deal. Recommend highly for a round of comfortable golf.
nice golfer freindly
pace of play was very good golfers were friendly and under the circumstance of bad weather the two weeks prior played very well.
