Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Willowick, the demise of a nice course
I had to see a chiropractor after my round yesterday, There are so many animal holes, and non planted areas you need and ATV, not a golf cart. The approach to every green was torn up with animal holes, trying to get a decent approach shot was ridiculous. The green fees are a great deal, but still not worth it.
it was terrible totally.
Paying this golf club to play golf is the most pathetic thing. What a waste of money.
Meh
Not worth the $58 (w/cart). Enjoyed the layout but fairways were in terrible shape at best. Definitely don't hit your ball into the rough. Greens were nice. Bar/restaurant is cool. They need to redo the fairways or lower fees.
Willowwick
I found out why it was pretty much. The only Course that had teetimes. The course is tore up everywhere you drive except on the concrete and even then some was like riding a horse while trotting I had a tighten the strap holding my bag in about every couple holes because of all the rattling and bumping The greens were kept up, but everything else was a mess even the tea boxes
Robbery for your money
Course is extremely bumps, the only good thing about the course are the greens but have the course is so sandy it’s a military base. Plenty of low skilled golfers, almost got hit by a ball 7 times and even saw someone get hit by a ball right in front of me. All in all don’t waste your money.
Old fashion domie
To bumpy for cart hard to find a smooth release from tees. Needs a steam Rollin. Still way improved and beginning to show some creative sparks...thanks to staff and super attendant.
Course
The course was not in good condition. The course was very bumpy and difficult to ride. The layout of the course was also not very appealing.
Some of the tea boxes were right next to the greens making it difficult to focus when you’re worried about stray balls flying your way
Rough shape
Holes and Ts ok, but fairways in terrible shape due to gofer holes and mounds. Ya get what you pay for!
Good pace of play and friendly place.
Mediocre
I’ve only played maybe 10 courses this one takes the cake for the worst. Mainly because of course conditions.. greens aren’t bad but everything else is. Feels like you are off-roading in the golf cart. Holes and dirt mounds everywhere. Not well maintained or worth the time/money.
Below Avg Pace
Conditions-wise, the course could be better, but for the relatively affordable cost there is value there. However, letting a foursome of hacks jump on the back 9 in front of people with a 1pm tee time really lacks professionalism and courtesy. On top of that, even the legitimate order of golfers was too close together. We started at 12:50pm and could only complete 16 holes. If golfing after the time change in fall, you’d better start at noon if you want to get in all 18.
