Short, but challenging.
The short par 4s can be difficult. Make sure to hit plan your tee shot. The tee boxes need a lot of work, but the greens were smooth and fast.
First Time
First time at the babe, exactly what I expected not amazing but definitely worth $40! Cool layout, shorter course makes it challenging off the tee!
:"The Babe"
The Babe was in good condition,. Pace of play was great. Greens were fast but true. Fairways could use a bit more grass. Round of golf tested your game into and around the wind. No flop shots today. Nice job remodeling the food service facility and folks who were there mid oprnaing and early evening were very curteous and frendily. Chips were greeat!!!!!!!!
A good muni course
I enjoy playing at this course. Before I played there for the first time, I heard rumors that it was in poor condition but I wanted to try it anyways. I was surprised with how healthy the fairways and greens looked. My only complaint is the rough is kind of non existent and mostly just sand and dirt. More incentive to hit fairways in regulation lol. The staff is really nice here which is rare to find compared to other courses in the area. The pace of play was a bit slow, but there’s only so much you can do in prime golf weather, and all of the nearby courses get slow this time of year so it’s not really anyone’s fault. I will continue to come back, it is a fun course. I look forward to making many more three putts and 100+ score cards at babes
Great course for all levels
Greens were great and fairways wide and accessible. 3 foursomes on one hole is too slow. Love coming here and bring all my Canadian friends. Called the pro shop but to no avail. Slow play doesn’t happen that often but sometimes it’s really bad when a twosome holds the hole course up. Won’t stop us from coming back though. Thanks
Might Be My Last Time at Babe
This is hard to write, because I live in the neighborhood, but yesterday was likely my last day playing The Babe for the foreseeable future. There have been many improvements to the grill/amenities, as well as the staff, but they still haven’t done a thing to help mitigate the idiots who find their way onto this course. I understand that it’s a city muni, but Rogers Park and Rocky Point don’t seem to have this issue. For some reason, the pace of play at Babe is always atrocious, and 4-5 holes in… I’m ready to leave. I can pay $10 more per round and go to a club with a starter/ranger that will help minimize this garbage. Yesterday, I waited about 10 minutes on each tee box to tee off. There was a group of 6 in front of me. Not sure how that even happens? Lots of people hitting it into the neighborhood and hunting for balls, not picking up after 8+ strokes, lining up putts for 2 minutes, only to leave them 4 feet short… constant nonsense like this at The Babe. The greens are terribly slow and the rough is basically dirt/leaves/roots, but I can live with all of that, mainly because of the proximity of the course to my house, if the pace of play is good. Until they get a ranger here to resolve what has become a real problem, I’m not subjecting myself to this frustration again. A few months of a good ranger at the course and these morons who are ruining The Babe will stop coming back.
